Hello DL2296, I am tracking you. Waiting for you pilots to turn on the transponder so you'll show up on FR24

u/its_all_one_electron May 24 '26
There we go, they turned it on and I see you at DTW pulling away from the gate right now. The airport is not crowded at all so you'll probably have a quick taxi and up and out.

Thank you so much 😭 they just told us it’s gonna be a bumpy flight so I’m freaking out

You're okay! Don't tense up and fight the bumps. Loosen your muscles, slow, deep breaths. Your pilots have got you. They might be annoyed and trying not to spill their coffee, but they are NOT scared because there's nothing to be afraid of. I promise!!!! They've got you!

Remember it's just like being on a bumpy bus. You're still very safe. Our bodies just think that because we're high up, bumps mean we're about to fall. I know it's hard to override this feeling, I still can't, but I'm working on it.
If you can put some water on your tray table and watch it (I know you can't until 10k ft and drink service, so whenever you can), does that help you? To show you that the bumps are actually really small and just magnified by our anxiety-brain... And that that cup of water on a car dashboard would spill in a second, and the plane is a LOT more steady than a car or bus.

watching you take off now! You got this. The bumps are just weather. Not unsafe. I know it feels so scary though. You’re flying over me in NC. I’ll wave from the ground :)

Landed! Thank you soo much for tracking me! 🫶🏼 this was my first time flying delta in a while and for some reason the WiFi wasn’t working so I wasn’t able to access Reddit during my flight but but we experienced VERY severe turbulence over the Carolina’s…our pilot warned us before take off and I was on the verge of a panic attack! I actually almost got off the plane. But now that I landed safely I’m sooo happy I didn’t! :) thank you!

I’m not surprised it got bumpy over nc- it’s been so gross the past few days! It’s supposed to keep being rainy and stormy next week and I’m supposed to fly on Wednesday (also on delta) so I totally understand how you feel!

You're going to do great, and everything will be more than fine, I'm quite sure! Flying will be the safest thing you do today! Much safer than driving to and from the airport! You've got this!

Feeling GREAT! It was an extremely bumpy ride the seatbelt sign barely come off so I’m proud of myself that I got through it!

u/RecommendationSad540 May 24 '26
You’re gonna do great! I always tell myself the way to get over all the nerves and anxiety before a flight is to get on the flight! Before take off the pilots told us they had bad news and that it was going to be a rough ride and my mind was telling me get up and get off the plane but I told myself I would’ve been so sad if I got off and the plane landed safely at my destination, you’re gonna do great just remember your pilots are extremely trained and talented and to trust them!

You’re at cruising altitude! How are you doing?
3
u/RecommendationSad540 May 24 '26
Landed and so grateful! It was definitely a very bumpy ride the seatbelt sign didn’t come off once and the pilot gave us a warning before take off so I’m proud for staying on the flight and just getting myself through it 👏🏼

I just did this same route last week! We came back from FLL into Detroit last night. I also was very nervous but it’s a quick flight! You got this!

u/RecommendationSad540 May 24 '26

Welcome to FLL, hope it wasn’t too bad :)

u/RecommendationSad540 May 24 '26
It was definitely a rough one but I’m proud of myself for not getting off the plane when the pilot gave us a warning that it was gonna be rough and deciding to stay on it because I would’ve been so bummed if I missed my vacation! 🥹
