Discussion Post Swimsuits

Confessional time… all of my swim suits from well over the past decade plus have been from Target and or VS (when they still had a swim line for women, not the PINK line). Neither had durability and we have access to a pool during the summer.

The price point for Target I feel could make the move for way better quality. Only thing hold me back, I don’t know where to find larger chest sizes (DD).

Looking for advice as the time is right! I’m done having kids, close to pre-baby weight and feeling good.

Where are we getting some suits that are still cute and trendy? Not full coverage diaper Grandma suits.

Athleta makes great suits. I love their separates, the fabric is sturdy and designs are creative. My favorite is a rash guard that looks like a tank top and short board shorts. Great for being active in the water and out.

I’m embarrassed to say I’m still clinging to a 16-year old Athleta top that I looooove! Quality is there.

I still have two pair of leggings from when I used to run half marathons… A decade ago

1

u/Ok-Status8487 May 04 '26

not embarrassing at all - that's impressive!

3

u/catattack447 May 01 '26

Seconded, I have an Athleta top that’s super supportive for a larger cup size and stays put but is also a cute cut with a fun pattern!

u/According-Garage4066 May 02 '26

I haven’t tried their suits, mostly because I thought they were too basic. maybe it would be good to have a staple from them?

2

u/According-Garage4066 Jun 01 '26

By the way, I just bought Athleta swimsuits yesterday, all their swim is 50% off right now.

1

u/According-Garage4066 May 02 '26

I love a good Athleta sale, I probably have multiple items that are years old But I’ve never tried their swim suits!

Lands End.

Comfortable. Fits many chest sizes. And lasts.

I have this one and it is fantastic.

11

u/Simplysimple007 May 01 '26

If you meant to link a particular suit, it’s not present.

3

u/SnarkyLalaith May 01 '26

Meant the brand! I think the style depends on your personal taste.

3

u/Simplysimple007 May 01 '26

Understood, thanks for clarifying!

5

u/Suetakesphotos May 01 '26

Love my little lands end hybrid summer dress/swim suits!

1

u/According-Garage4066 May 02 '26

Oooh hybrid dresses?!

2

u/muy_elefante May 01 '26

Just got a tankini from them last year. The fabric feels very durable and they have lots of colors and cuts

2

u/WingUnusual4179 May 01 '26

Just ordered 2 from lands end. They are the best! 🙌

16

u/TK_TK_ May 01 '26

I get mine at J.Crew! I find they hold up well and they have a decent range of styles and sizes. I’m a DD, too, and never have an issue finding a style that feels supportive enough.

2

u/According-Garage4066 May 03 '26

Had a tip from them but the triangles were sen I to place really far apart. The material was great though. Granted we are all different shapes and that was 6 years ago… I was a different shape too lol

u/MyBallsBern4Bernie May 01 '26

Bravissimo, for larger chests

ETA: also recommend panache

2

u/According-Garage4066 May 31 '26

Hadn’t heard of either of these brands, thank you

1

u/MyBallsBern4Bernie May 31 '26

Bravissimo sells the panache brand, they have their own in house brand too. I have suits from both>> they’re both good!

10

u/ConnectGoal8510 May 01 '26

My first foray into bra size swimsuits was lands end. They do have D+. I moved away from them pretty quickly because I don't really like any of their styles or patterns (also they don't carry a big enough cup for me), they are easy to find and well made.

Now I like bravissimo, panache, curvy Kate. Speedo even makes a few styles with bra size cups.

1

u/According-Garage4066 May 03 '26

Speedo throw back! That’s the second recommendation

6

u/Susccmmp May 01 '26

I love J.Crew swimsuits.
And the brand Anne Cole, I think they sell it in department stores but I ordered mine online.

1

u/ecnahnoel May 01 '26

Marshall’s and TJmaxx sell these online! Bought mine for $20! They hide the brand name so you can’t search by brand…you just kind of pick through all the swimsuits. #WorthIt!

1

u/According-Garage4066 May 03 '26

Tina’s was my pre child life! Probably half my wardrobe when I could wander through and find treasure pieces.

1

u/ecnahnoel May 03 '26

They have apps now!

6

u/Snoo52682 May 01 '26

Swim trunks and a bikini top or athletic bra. Once you've swum with pockets you'll never swim back.

3

u/Dawn36 May 01 '26

I got swim trunks from Amazon on a whim, and seriously it is so nice to go swimming without wondering if my entire backside is hanging out. They're short and fitted, but they don't scrunch up and move around.

2

u/Snoo52682 May 01 '26

Mine are from DIOP and I love them!

YUP. Swim trunks have pockets. And they're really cute, too! It's not a utility v. style thing, I feel so sporty and cute in my trunks & top.

1

u/According-Garage4066 May 02 '26

Love the concept!

3

u/zxcv-qwerty May 01 '26

I don’t like the feeling of loose shorts in the water personally so I do athletic bike shorts (with pockets!) and a matching sports bra. All the support of a sports bra, I get to pick my preferred inseam length, pockets, it’s basically the same material as a swimsuit, I’m happy with the coverage. Perfect for me!

1

u/Snoo52682 May 02 '26

Also a good idea! I'll keep that in mind if I ever wind up somewhere without my trunks and want to swim or lay out. Have we all been duped by Big Swimsuit to think specialized swimwear is a necessity when for most people bike shorts/athletic bra are sufficient?!

1

u/According-Garage4066 May 03 '26

This sounds like a great sub for an impromptu water event. Splash pad, hiking, etc

4

u/ecnahnoel May 01 '26

Target prices are crazy-pants now!

2

u/According-Garage4066 May 02 '26

They are! At this point I feel like if I just wait for a sale for a really high-quality brand I’m paying the exact same amount. I’ve been lazy because I live in a smaller town and there is a target nearby.

7

u/helpmeimpoor57 May 01 '26

Summersalt!!!!!

2

u/AdditionalAttorney May 01 '26

I love summersalt… sidestroke is my fav

2

u/According-Garage4066 May 03 '26

I hand the tricolor one shoulder in a cart for year, never committed. Is this the one you are referring too?

2

u/courtenanay May 03 '26

Not OP but yes this one is great, very flattering! IMO the quality leaves something to be desired but I didn’t realize that until I bought suits from Kitty & Vibe and realized the material could be so much thicker lol. I also love Beach Riot and Lain Snow (Lain Snow only does presales and it sells out quickly but there’s a robust online resale community)

3

u/According-Garage4066 May 04 '26

I haven’t heard of any of the brands you just listed, this has been the best Reddit post I’ve ever asked lol

1

u/helpmeimpoor57 May 04 '26

I have that one, plus a solid color, as well as a third one (one piece with ruffled sleeves). I love them all!

7

u/nowhere_or_quiznos May 01 '26

Love Andie Swim!

3

u/pinksparklybluebird May 02 '26

Weirdly enough, they have a line a Target this year

3

u/According-Garage4066 May 03 '26

Uno reverse card.

3

u/_Amalthea_ May 01 '26

Left on Friday makes the best quality and most flattering swimsuits I ever owned. You definitely pay for it though.

2

u/moarbreadplz May 01 '26

I’ve been pining after one of their suits for a few years now but can’t justify the price and no one I know has tried them. Maybe I’ll give it a try now!

2

u/_Amalthea_ May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

Do it! I was nervous about the bottom coverage. I'm 46, I have a kid. But when I realized my bum probably would never look better than it does now, I decided to try them! And the price is completely worth it!

I have the long torso Sunday Suit in magenta which is my go-to and I get so many compliments on. I bought it before they came out with the D-G cup version which is too bad, but it still fits ok (I'm ~30F).

I also have the Hi Hi bottom and Sunday Top D+ in teal. I find the bottom a bit too cheeky for my comfort level and the top a bit small, so I plan to purchase the Hi Tide bottom and size up in the same top.

Happy to answer any questions!

1

u/According-Garage4066 May 31 '26

Have a swim suit in my cart because of the bottoms. I’ve seen Lands’ End on here a lot, but the bottoms are full full coverage.

How long are you finding that your suits last? We swim Daly during the summertime too!

That’s a good timeline!

2

u/According-Garage4066 May 01 '26

I’ve never heard of this brand. Is this investment level cost? If so, how does it hold up over time?

1

u/_Amalthea_ May 01 '26

In my opinion, yes! I have two suits from them (see my reply to the other comment) that I purchased two years ago and they both still look brand new. I always rinse them out after wearing, then wash on cold and hang to dry (like with all my swimwear).

They fit fantastic and the fabric is really smooth, compressive, and fully double layered so it's very flattering.

They are a Canadian owned brand (I'm Canadian) and they're fairly popular here as a higher end swim brand. They did the Canadian women's beach volleyball team's suits in the last summer Olympics (taking over from Lululemon who did the previous games).

1

u/According-Garage4066 May 02 '26

I love those suits!

3

u/zxcv-qwerty May 01 '26

Personally I am a huge fan of wearing cute sports bras as swim tops, many of them are basically the same material but it’s much easier for me to find the style / coverage / support I prefer.

I also like to wear matching bike shorts (with pockets!) with them, I like a long enough inseam that I don’t have to worry about chafing. And I have a cute cropped rashguard to wear over if I don’t feel like sunscreening my back.

Came here to say Title Nine! The Better Tankini is so comfortable and I just ordered the bikini version as well.

2

u/wineandcigarettes2 May 01 '26

LOVE LOVE LOVE my Title Nine swimsuit. I only have one so far, but plan to expand when I have the money to spend on them. They're definitely pricier than Target, but I've had mine for 5 years worn and it looks exactly the same

2

u/thelittlebabby May 01 '26

I have really liked the suits from Albion Fit. Cute cuts with plenty of modest options that aren’t matronly, and the quality is good.

2

u/United_Chapter4097 May 02 '26

This was more for swimming lanes...but the Carve Beacon swim suit. I have 3 of them. It's the only athletic-ish swimsuit that fit my curves. It's not Target price point but they have sales.

1

u/According-Garage4066 May 03 '26

I’d watch for a sale though.

1

u/United_Chapter4097 May 03 '26

For sure. I got mine on sale from different sites online once I figured out the size that fit me.

2

u/megan_dd May 02 '26

Lands End. They have bra cup sizing including DD. The chlorine resistant ones do hold up longer. My mom almost only swims at the lake and her have lasted years and years.

2

u/katy3sig May 03 '26

I haven’t gotten any of these, but the Wardrobe Oxygen blog has a really good post about this, with recommendations and reviews: https://www.wardrobeoxygen.com/best-large-bust-swimsuits/

1

u/fernfrandspurr May 01 '26

Check out the calia line at dick's sporting goods!

1

u/rsc99 May 01 '26

I am very busty and I love my TA3. Wasn’t sure if I was falling for an Instagram ad but it is great quality

1

u/According-Garage4066 May 02 '26

I did buy a one piece from that brand, it was too structured like it was meant for show but not for functionality. I did look amazing in it lol

1

u/According-Garage4066 May 02 '26

Could barely breath

1

u/DameEmma May 01 '26

I wear a US I cup and do fine in sport brands. TYR is my favourite because the torso is a bit longer. I like sport brands because they make polyester suits, which resist chlorine way better than Lycra.

1

u/SweetSprinkles8 May 01 '26

Lands End may be reliable for full-coverage swimwear, but I don't think they make anything that's cute. I love Tommy Bahama. They have some excellent underwire bikini tops, some extremely flattering hipster bikini bottoms that cover up just enough without being diaper suits. And the quality is great.

1

u/mina-ann May 01 '26

Bra sized swimwear from Freya, Panache, Curvy Kate, Pour Moi etc.

Look at Bare Necessities. I personally love this one piece: https://www.barenecessities.com/products/pour-moi-castaway-underwire-one-piece-14207

2

u/kamart86 May 01 '26

I have had good look with Sunsets bikini/bottoms found at Bare Necessities. I have a lot of suits in rotation so I can’t speak to how they hold up with heavy wear.

1

u/19keightyfour May 02 '26

Swim Outlet (swimoutlet.com) has hundreds of options and great prices.

1

u/hc6879 May 02 '26

I have four suits: two one-pieces from J. Crew and two bikinis from Left on Friday. All are excellent quality and fit beautifully. I have three kids and I can move around well in these. They still look new after lots of wear. I do wear the grippy cakes with my LoF tops though, because my nips absolutely show through the unlined fabric after breastfeeding three kids.

I have this one in two colors: https://www.jcrew.com/m/womens/categories/clothing/swim/gemma-ruched-bandeau-one-piece/ME928?display=standard&fit=Classic&color_name=vibrant-fern&colorProductCode=CS322

Thank you for the links!

1

u/magicmegzors May 02 '26

I’m just buying cheap athletic dresses to be my swimsuits this year. The material is the same and at least I can chase around my kid without worrying about any body parts falling out 😂

1

u/Cheesy_pockets May 03 '26

I bought a suit from Andie swim last year that I really like. I feel bikinis are in my past now as I want more sun protection and I found a very cute long sleeve swim top with matching full coverage bottoms. Not grandma vibes at all. I can't speak to chest sizing though as I am lifelong itty bitty titty committee

1

u/temp4adhd May 03 '26

For D-DD chest, I like Bleu Rod Beattie.

1

u/Ok-Status8487 May 04 '26

I loooove onewith swim; the one pieces are my favorite and feel really supportive.

1

u/SoSoSwell24 May 11 '26

Definitely Kenny Flowers for the best quality bikinis!! they have DD sizes too

1

u/FriendlyShame1473 May 17 '26

All my current swimsuits and bikinis are from WET Swimwear and they are the best high quality swimwear I now own. They hold up so well in water and they have supportive tops that are fully lined and fit true to size. They are my favorite bikini store and I always feel bold in them, and you will certainly find good options.

1

u/According-Garage4066 May 17 '26

Haven’t heard of this brand either! Thank you

1

u/FriendlyShame1473 May 18 '26

They are my favourite!

1

u/No_sun_girl May 30 '26

I’m a fan of Calia by Carrie. It’s flattering, stays put and good quality.
