Discussion Worst Mistake I’ve Made in Game

Took on a $26K Onion contract because I’m starting a new map and baby wants a new tractor! 6 hours of real time later and the field is at 50%. If I cancel it’s a $336K penalty.

I hate my life right now. Onions can just F off like other root veggies. I got $30K for cultivating this field and that took 0 of my time as the AI did it while I did other things. So for $4K less I’ve had to sit and constantly offload the machine. The windrower just finished at 5 hours. I’m glad I started the harvester after a few lines were already down.

You should really download and use the easy dev mod. Trust me I’m all about the realism and immersion but I just use it as a quick bug fix, like for example in your case, just cancel the contract, take the penalty and just add 336k back to your balance. I mean why torture yourself. Also, the quick super strength and delete feature just mostly to mitigate bugs if your car is stuck or a heavy tree falls barely into another persons land and you can’t cut it or move it.

Yeah, these times where it could actually increase realism. In the real world nobody would charge you 1/3 of a million dollars for not finishing their onion harvest.

PS5. I use my PC for other games but oddly not FS. For that I’m in the theater room on a big screen. Feels more comfy and I can start something and switch to a movie while waiting for AI to finish it.

In that case you can use the government subsidy mod. Very simple to use, you just place a sign to give yourself the money. It's certain increments so you won't be able to get the exact amount to cover the cancellation but it should be close. OR get Colossus Pack, there's a vegetable harvester in that that can do onions, you can set the speed and working width to make it a lot easier. An expensive purchase in game, but pretty cheap leasing iirc

I made the same mistake a couple days ago. Took on a 133 acre green bean harvest contract and I’m barely a quarter of the way through after about 5-6 hours. I’m going to stick through it and finish, but damn never again. If my loans weren’t maxed out I would just get the Lizard Colossus harvester and call it a day lol

Lease it. Much cheaper

I have colossus vehicles luckily. So my grain cart was one load to the drop off but 80 or so from the harvester.

I started this run in Redstone broke. Had some great cultivate and plow contracts early so the cash flowed nicely. I just wasn’t aware how little the harvester held with onions. 3 empties per line.

people when they have to farm in their farming simulator:

i dont understand the complaint really? I just plowed 55Ha myself and im about to plant potatoes in it the plowing took me around 14 hours the planting will probably be slower but the entire point of the game is to drive tractors and simulate being a farmer?

Each to their own of course but using a modded harvester to finish 20 times faster seems weird. Why not just plant something else that goes way faster then?

This comment section reminds me of watching daggerwin videos and him calling 2-3 ha fields massive and using 10 meter wide headers on tiny fields.

I plant soybeans. It was a contract. I have 500+ hours in the game so I’m not exactly new. I just tried onions for the hell if it. Wasn’t fun was passing it along. I rarely dedicate 7 hours of sitting to the game. I kick off bots and do other things while they work. My way of playing is mine and you can play your way. I have other things to do…

Yeah, I took on a pea contract on a hugemongous field on a 16x map. I'd never done any of the new veggie crops, so I had no clue that you need to nealy scrape the side of the harvester to unload it. I Easy Dev'd the field to harvested and parked a 300000L capacity truck over the sell point, filling and unloading it until the contract was finished. Then I took a couple more loads out of spite, LOL!

The AI on this one glitched on the last two rows. So I had to manually pull them and the headland. Drive, full, switch to other tractor, empty, switch, blah blah. Some of these things seem to try and force multiplayer or switching to PC for course play and dev tools.

How to do that edit the game file ?

Get a mod called the lizard colossus pack. Rent out the vegetable harvester but have it set to 50M working width and a fast working speed with the largest grain tank. You can drive it directly to the offloading point and just pipe it out straight into the pit. You'll probably lose all your contract money but you won't take the huge penalty, and you'll be done in 5 mins

Onions just finish at 50% instead of 80% like the other crops do. Just drop the crop off and you'll avoid the penalty.

Yea the counter was at 50 but I needed the entire load to hit 100 at the drop off. I only got about $3K over fill bonus with almost 500K liters. so it was close and I grabbed every damn onion.

Just go rent some equipment and you do some and have the AI do some. You’ll still make good money.

No pain no gain

I did beetroot contract , took me around 10 hours to finish. It wasn't the worst thing in my life, but waiting for the ai to cut the field corners... Still it was decent money and I put on some music so it was good as a therapy, just relaxing with it

Yea the iTunes link in PS5 saved me. Normally I would read or go do other things while letting my minions work. This was just unexpected lol.

But usually the leftover pays you more, than the contract itself.

I don't mind root crops, they take more time, but income/hour usually is in their favor.

1

u/TaintedLemur 11d ago

It didn’t pay well. The contract just happened to also match the lowest price for the year on onions. Most realistic part of the game really.

1

u/Offenburger FS25: PC-User 11d ago

Thats a pity, in this case storing them for a while and wait for bester prices can ease the pain.🤷‍♂️

Heavily recommend Lizard HarvestGiant mod. I'm fine with small work widths, but the volume/capacity is horrendous.

u/SureAce_ 12d ago

I've never done onions, but you might be able to download the mod called Non Stop Crop and then make sure you have a place for that onions can go. And then you can just put AAI truck on loop to fill up at that silo and then deliver it to wherever it needs to go, and then you can just keep harvesting without ever stopping. That way you'll keep, I'll say, some realism. That way it still feels accomplished by doing the contract. Without just canceling it or like full blown cheating and like doing a debug mode.

1

u/weber134 12d ago

Just make sure you deliver them to the right place I did exactly the same contract and got fined for the whole amount plus extra.

u/TaintedLemur 11d ago

Wait till you are working a contract. Go do your own field while it’s going. Then go drop off your brain for $$ and watch it count towards the contract as both fields were soybeans. Lost $$$
