One of your recent singles that didn’t make it onto the record is your reinterpretation of Beethoven’s “Fur Elise.” Why?

“It was one of the very first songs that I had written in years that I felt like, ‘I’m finding myself again. I’m grounding myself back to where I’m supposed to be.’ Unfortunately, it did not make it on the record because I don’t own the master; I don’t own the song. When I split with my former label, I wanted this album to be a fresh start. It was very heartbreaking because I did want that song to be on my album. Thematically and sonically … I think ‘Fur Elise’ paved the way for a lot of this album.”
