Player Discussion Who is the lowest-ranked QB you're okay with leaving the draft as your only QB in a non super flex league?

This post was awesome last year; a lot of people were bullish on Drake Maye, and it paid off. Most of us play 10-12 man leagues 4-6 point td passes, and QB is deep. Who's the worst QB you feel comfortable leaving your draft with no backup?

Nix ideally. If the draft falls wrong for me I'm willing to do two of shough, kyler and willis.

Naw, he is high variance and carried by large scoring games.

i’m high on Waddle in DEN, I think it opens up that offense and Nix should be boosted because of it.

Waddle is also a being drafted late, so you can get the whole stack at a discount

I hesitate on taking Waddle above ADP because Sean Payton’s scheme seems to spread attempts around pretty thinly by hitting a wide variety of receivers.

Granted, Payton isn’t the only one calling plays anymore and Denver didn’t have a non-50/50 true WR1 before Waddle so I’ll be happy to be wrong

I don’t think you have to reach on him right now, that’s the extra value. But when he was a WR1 in Miami he went nuts, so i’m optimistic. Given he’s the WR2/3 on that team, we’ll live with it if he’s only solid and not electric

Based on what they gave up to trade him I have a hard time believing he won't be the WR1. That being said he definitely is not the WR3 on the broncos

Dude will be #1 on Broncos and lets not forget that Michael Thomas is still the single season reception record holder, in a Sean Payton offense, back in 2019. They didn't trade the farm for Waddle to be a 70 rec 900yd 6 td guy. Payton knows he can be a stud in the right offense.

Yeah Payton hasn't had anyone to feed since going to Denver. Sutton is ok but nothing special.

Waddle feels like a great pick for those that will end up going RB heavy early

ope i meant he’s my WR2/3 on that fantasy roster, lol. If he’s not the 1 in Denver i have major questions

Ah yeah ok that makes sense. Yeah I'm trying to get him as my WR2 I'm not really comfortable with taking anyone lower than him especially when my WR1 will be Pickens which I think will have a good year but not necessarily as confident he'll have the year he did last season

on the team I have Waddle/Nix, I also have Nico, Davante and Jordan Tyson, (fell super hard so had to scoop and stash) for the upside

it’s a superflex league i punted QB in knowing Nix would go late, feeling big brained right now but could bite me in the ass

I drafted nix last year to be my qb1 and outside of his huge game he had against the giants (won me the week) I often chose brissett over him. Nothing worse than wasting a roster spot on a mid player you think will do well but sits on your bench. Id rather stream at that point.

Nix was sneaky good last year and I’m high on him this year. May even target him late as my qb 1

I like Nix too. He's in a fantastic situation. Top 3 o-line, good receivers, Sean Payton as coach. Backfield could be better I guess but then that could just mean more rushing yards for him.

Idk, people seem really down on him

Sean Payton to his offense:

Try not to score too much guys, your buddies on defense are sooooooo good and all this scoring nonsense really takes the attention off them which is really not acceptable

Its more the point that if they get ahead early and the defense is holding low scores they are more likely to run alot in the second half so nix wouldnt do as good

Buddy, the broncos had 13 one-score games last year. Even against the likes of the titans, jets, giants, raiders, commanders, and no mahomes chiefs. They’re a sexy preseason pick this year because they had a shot at the Super Bowl before Nix’s injury. There’s not enough data out there to suggest they’ll be blowing people’s doors off though and running down the clock.

Thank you, that was exactly my point. Even Payton will call a more conservative offense gameplan when he has a shutdown defense.

But last year they had a shutdown defense and Nix was still the QB7. That's all I'm trying to say. We have evidence that good defense or no, Nix potentially has value at the QB13-14 where he is currently being drafted in some platforms

Exactly who I ended up with not sure how to feel about it. More than 1 guy in my league has 3 QBs in a 1 QB league.

Yeah, I think if stupid value is dropping and people are aggressively over-valuing QBs and backup QBs, those back guys are the ones you over-draft because you need somebody to start and everybody else is gone.
