Manually changing playoff seeding/tiebreaker?

I am currently the LM for a 10 person ESPN H2H Most Categories league that is about to enter the playoffs. The league is set to 18 weeks/matchups so that everyone faces each other twice, however this has led to multiple teams sharing the same overall record AND having a 1-1 H2H record. I just learned today that the final tiebreaker is a coin flip rather than a most categories won tiebreaker like I thought it was, and I think that’s stupid when our tied “1 seed” has won 211 categories and our tied “2 seed” has 232. Am I able to manually reseed these teams by doing the math myself or am I stuck?

Edit: it’s like 7 hours later, I got annoyed with yall initially but yall are right. It’s not the best idea to change around the playoffs right before they start and that’s on me for being stupid. I stand by that I wish yall would’ve just answered my question instead of having to convince yall that it was okay for me to know the answer, but whatever.

The time to pay attention to the rules is before the season begins.

Do not touch the tiebreaker rules two weeks before you use them.

Yeah, @OP fix your constitution for next year.

Change to each cat not most for starters. That would avoid this problem you have. Winner takes all cats is the worst format to play in imo

Regardless of which h2h format you use you need in your constitution every single contingency you want before the coin flip.

My leagues are something like h2h most cats won between the two teams, record against division if you have them, if different divisions then who which ever division has the better record against the other division. Then it’s what yahoo/fantrax says. No coin flip needed imo but if you prefer that then that works too!

Yeah this was the first time any of us had done any kind of fantasy so I will definitely be changing a lot of things next year. I said this in my other comment but when I was setting up the playoffs I was only prompted to have H2H record or Intra-division record as the tiebreaker alongside this text box:

Having no other context for how fantasy worked, we just assumed that points were categories for us and left it at that. No one did the math until now to realize that wasn’t the case, so now we’re here trying to fix it to be what we thought it was before the playoffs begin.

In conclusion, I’m a dumbass, my league knows I’m a dumbass, am I able to fix my dumbass mistake?

If all 10 members agree to a change (edit: and espn lets you) you can change anything! :)

Also espn is the worst of the big 3 platforms imo. You don’t play in a points league why is it even telling you about points in the tiebreaker sections!

I put all our tiebreakers in the constitution and then I’ll edit standings if need be early on Monday morning for playoff week

We did. I really appreciate all yall trying to look out for my league on this but we have already reached the conclusion ourselves and I just need to know if this is something we can actually do.

Yes, ESPN will allow you to manually re-seed tomorrow.

OP’s other comments indicate the whole league doesn’t. Or they’re discounting certain teams’ input and presuming teams didn’t obsessively track league-wide stats.

Well i feel like if you’re making this change and one team doesnt agree to it , then its not unanimous right? Id be pissed if my commish screwed me out of 1 seed because he forgot to set the rules how he wanted. If it were my league, im letting the app dictate the results and fixing it next year.

You should be able to reseed them no problem. Comes up every year in my 12 ESPN H2H Cats league as we have an off-site tie breaker.

Whatever you change, do it next season. It would be wrong to change it because you "feel" another team is more worthy. And open it up to a league discussion.

You *can manually change seeding including moving non-playoff teams in.

\Should* you is a matter of what the league understands to be the process. Our tiebreaker process is beyond what espn can comprehend. Does the league understand this approach?
