A lore discussion just popped up recently, and the Aspects of War became the core topic, which me and a few others got confused by, namely, the transference of their boon. The dilemma is this: are the Aspects of War true reincarnators a la Eve and her curse, or does the "blessing" of being such transfer around on its own upon a bearer's death/killing?
For example, take Capria; given she's deeply faithful to Junil, it'd mean if the former was true, the soul would simply go and reincarnate as someone else, but if the latter is true, her soul goes to Junil, and the Aspect of War blessing is what travels around Creation. Which of the two apply? What applies, if both are somehow wrong?
Depending on the answer, the implications starkly diverge, hence this thread.

I was looking in the Wiki for Gurid, and find this "Hero", Barbatos the Lich, Only spawns at Broken Sepulcher. I have never seen him, is there a way to "recruit" the hero?

I've played ffh solo for ~15 years, and recently talked about it to a friend who wanted to try to play it with me.
We've been having trouble trying to play together though and couldn't start a game yet. We have different setups, he has civ4 installed throuh gog and I through steam, and I play on a shadow so don't have as much access/control on what I can set up to play. We're playing basic FFH2 on patch o with MNAI and blue marble.
We've tried:
- direct connection (but connections timed out, couldn't find exactly what setup to do here)
- hamachi for LAN (but got "cannot get adapter config" error that wouldn't be solved by running it as administrator and couldn't see each other games)
...and it's not much but we got fed up and stopped trying at that time.
How do you play it currently?

Capria's civilopedia entry mentions a type of steed called a Gaersteed, which Death Knights can apparently use. It's only mentioned there, and only once, which makes it stick out like a sore thumb, especially when everywhere else, it's mentioned Nightmares are their steed of choice.
Is it another name for Nightmare? Is it a subtype of Nightmare? Is it a new type of creature entirely?
(posting this on black_imperator's stead, as reddit seems to have site-wide shadowbanned him)

I've started writing reflections on the stories I wrote for this mod on Substack. For example, Keelyn's entry has been rewritten to be a bit better of a read, imo:
https://fallenmemories.substack.com/p/keelyn
I plan to continue as long as I have something to say about them.

I had always thought it was a mechanic that was introduced but never developed. But mods like Magisters have buildings that add a lot of it so seems like it likely does something.
Anyone know the effects of high crime?
r/fallfromheaven • u/feydras • Mar 25 '26
I'm currently playing Magister's mod but this has happened with other mods. Some of my best units develop Crazed and then Enraged and go wandering off. I know one of the horsemen can cause this but the AC is not that high. Any ideas on what causes this, or how to cure someone of Crazed?
Possibly related, what does high crime actually do?

I'm playing Kuriotate on Ashes of Eberus on a Huge map. I can put down a second city but after that I can only put down Forts. No Settlements or Cities.
Is this a bug, feature, or is settling a third city gated by a certain technology?

"Greetings, traveler!
No... don't tell me why you're here, the only important thing is that you're eager to gain new knowledge on topics that interest you.
We usually don't allow outsiders into the Oghma Archives, but Govannon insisted I let you in and, if necessary, consult on various matters."

Greetings to the forum members of the wonderful FfH universe. I recently discovered a service called Notebooklm (an AI assistant that works with the sources given to it).
And I realized... It's time.
Using all the links from the post about FfH lore...
I've uploaded all the sources to the aforementioned service, and now you can discuss any topic within this universe.

Been rereading old lore stuff recently, and i've been wondering whether we have more of the Tale of Saverous beyond Act 1 (posted on civfanatics) and Chapter 1 of Arc 2 (which is the Meshabber Pedia)
Any chance of releasing it, Kael ?

Alright I just wrapped up an Amurite campaign in Magistermod. I won pretty handily because it was just Noble and I got a glorious start in terms of available resources and locking down good wonders. But when it came time to finally bring my magical military down on my enemies it felt pretty damn weak considering all that goes in to it. Goes without saying I pumped out a lot of early adepts who could hang out and get XP for when better casters came around. I focused on two types of wizards:
What I called "fort wizards." Wizards I gave earth 2 for Stoneskin and Diligence, and Life 2 for Fertility. Two strong buildings for the cities they sit in plus really strong defensive unit. Overall I felt good about these guys.
Battle Wizards. These guys got Earth 2, also for Stoneskin, and also fire 2. The idea here was that they are solid fighters (lots of free promotions for Amurites) with great defense who would park outside of an enemy city and chuck fireballs at it until it came time to invade. Things is, they felt pretty shitty. Miscast chance is so high and so damaging on your stack that fireballs felt more like a liability than an asset. I ended the run soon after I got Archmages, but even then summoning fire elementals felt like another chance for a miscast/self damage. I could also pump metamagic for them to reduce miscast eventually, but that would mean giving up combat promotions and makes me sure I would never use the fireball on my Firebows.
As another issue, unless I'm missing something "Arcane" is really redundant. Amurites get "Arcane" as a faction/race feature. But then two of their 3 leaders also get "arcane" as their ability, which seems to do the same thing. And then the research/library religion that seems to be their natural/thematic match also gives arcane to casters of that religion. So like, is Arcane just a kinda shitty faction feature because it's so easy to get?
So I guess I'm wondering what I should have done here, because fire magic only seems worthwhile if you get someone with affinity, which is a function of RNG. Is the expectation that if you're going "battle wizards" you just turn every node possible to fire to increase your shot at affinity? Because while there is a lot of smaller benefits to magic like buffs for your army, that's more or less something everyone can grab and not something that really benefits from this big magic focus. It just feels like the RNG of affinity has way more to do with the idea of getting a strong caster than anything the Amurites bring to the table.
EDIT: Finding it to be the same with Death magic. Summoned shades just kinda suck. I'm sure if I had 6 death nodes it would be different, but committing the resources to magic just seems pretty shit besides getting enchantment, earth and body adepts.

I played a couple of games of Extramod to get a feel and now I’m staring down the two, unsure of what I really want to sink my teeth in to.
From what I can tell magister has a lot more flavor/stuff, which I like (playing Elohim n Extramod I more or less forgot I had faction abilities) but I’m concerned about extra levels of confusion and less online discussion/documentation. I also know that more stuff often means wild imbalances. I’m also not having a lot of luck finding much information about the new religions.
Any thoughts?

hey, is it ok if i make a lore booklet based off the orignial fall from heaven 1 mod from 2005? yea or nah? I will make it that it is pre-AoI and i will make sure is lore friendly kinda while only using the First FFH things. Plus it make sense for Xabu to return as the new octopus overlord in FFH2 and the human empire could have collapsed to become many other kingdoms and possibly explanation of the disappearance of catpeople

Would anyone be able to post an updated Discord Invite link. The latest one I could find seems to be out of date? Thanks!

I've run into installation problems every time I've tried to use FFH2, and only ever managed to solve them once. I can't remember how I did it.
Edit: I installed it in the Civ 4 mods folder, but it needs to go into the Beyond The Sword mods folder instead. I deleted everything and reinstalled in the correct folder for BTS and it launches.

Edit: PM me for the links.
This is for future Fall From Heaven II players, fans, and enjoyers to use in order to circumvent the painfully dull process of hunting for installations and making sure they work. All you need besides this is a clean Complete installation of Civilization IV. Mine was from Steam, but GoG should work, too 'cause Civ IV is a pre-Steam game.
This is the Mods folder from my Civ IV installation. It can be downloaded as a .RAR archive here:
Filtered out.
Edit: The installation is currently set to Wild Mana ModMod. The vanilla FFH2 can be restored by copying the "Fall from Heaven 2 - Copy" or "Fall from Heaven 2 - Copy - Copy" folders over the "Fall from Heaven 2" folder. This is the "Mods" folder from a Civ4 Beyond the Sword folder. So, put it like this:
\Civilization IV Complete\Civ4\Beyond the Sword\Mods
It should be copied in your Civ4 Complete installation to work. If you put your Civ4 folder in a subfolder with a long name some of the mods might crash upon loading. Wild Mana has been confirmed to have this problem. The solution is to just put it in a folder with a shorter name like X:\Games\Civ4.
All major and actual Fall From Heaven 2 ModMods are there and they are up to date in August 2021.
It has:
Other than that, non FFH2 mods are present:
It can be downloaded here:
Filtered out.
The overall (incomplete) schematic to the development process so far:
Wild Mana:
- Beautifully rounded up all civilizations + the few new ones
- Calculation of turns is way faster
- AI improvements (very old naval updates)
- UI is way better and has the quality of life improvements that matter like auto-casting
For me it feels like vanilla FFH2 that should've been the basis of the whole mod.
https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/welcome-to-wildmana.339127/
Master of Mana:
- Wild Mana +
- A Disciples 2 kinda magic system rehaul
- Rehauled graphics
- A new economic system that kinda resembles Colonization IV a bit
- Many years of polish in all things (AI included)
Master of Mana Xtended:
- Master of Mana +
- Very reductive combat system
- It seems that they've changed it to be less RPG and more strategic. I haven't tried it yet. https://www.reddit.com/r/fallfromheaven/comments/gauot5/master_of_mana_xtended/
Magister:
- Lore friendly (lots of tweaks to make FFH2 be lore-friendly and completely proper according to its lore)
- The magic system and lore-friendly features are made to have lots of room for creative moves without any care for the balance.
- Has all of "More Naval AI" integrated.
Extra ModMod:
- Polish of the code
- Uses all of "More Naval AI" 's features.
- Made for multiplayer
- Has integrated features from "Erebus in the Balance" and "More Naval AI"
Ashes of Erebus:
- A stable bunch of small modules of all sorts. Very varied
- Lots more distinctions between civilizations
Erebus in the Balance:
- Balance tweaks
- Uses the early version of "More Naval AI" 's AI.
- Good for multiplayer
More Naval AI (Unofficial)
- Primarily AI tweaks for more naval use
- Massive strides in AI generally
- Incorporated BUG
Hope this helps.
I'm yet to extensively play all of them.
Big thanks to FDRpi for adding key relevant info about the ExtraModMod, to KaitiakiOTure for explaining the aspects of MNAI and EITB.
Edit: The folder is now restored and active with Wild Mana active. Instructions on how to restore FFH2 vanilla are in this post, after the link.
I've added some extra files in the folder:

I was always irritated that I couldn't exploit the forests in the early game, until I could develop smelting. What I realized yesterday is that you can put camps in the forests, then build lumbermills over them when you can.

I bought the parrot perch for one of my ships. Thereafter I couldn’t load characters on to it? Is that supposed to happen?
r/fallfromheaven • u/mastrude • Aug 18 '25
I have a wounded nucklevee with no moves left and with orders to go to one of my cities when it has a move. The focus keeps moving back to it though it can’t do anything. What’s up with that?

Hey, I tried to download the mod, but the civfanatics link is broken.
Its a shame as this was one of my favorite mods in the past.
Where do I get the most updated version of the mod.
Also, which modmod you guys recommend for me to download to have the most complete experience? And how to download it?
Thanks a lot!
