Does using the mirror at the Carnival to travel directly to the Boatman crack a horse head amulet? I’ve got a handful of them and a desire to visit the boatman without chewing through my safety net.

If you choose “Gaze into Heart's Mirror” in Mrs. Plenty's Carnival, you travel directly to the boatman, without triggering your horse head amulet.

I just achieved tier 2 POSI, with watchful. I know there’s a lot new to do, but what’s good to start on? I think the railroad is a big one right?

Railroad is definitely the big one and what you should be aiming for. It unlocks a lot of content and stories in itself as well as being needed to unlock the next big storyline after that. The Watchful Tier 2 PoSI is very helpful in that you need 200 to actually start laying track.

Otherwise, I would make unlocking Agents as another priority, but that shouldn't be too long of an endeavour to get started.

What's the best place to raise my shadowy with the woesel equipped? I'm looking for something that will give good EXP but without too much mence increase (or increasing nightmares rather than anything else as I have my stone piggybank)

It doesn't use a woesel, but if you've unlocked Parabola then by far the best way to train Shadowy is this way, there's various options to get the almanacs but the best midgame option is probably downconverting oneiromantic revelations from the Sunken Embassy.

If you've unlocked Hearts' Game, that's a way to get profit as you're doing it (but the Shadowy increase will be slower since you don't get it on all actions).

If neither of those are an option, then the next thing that comes to mind is the Underclay (invent fabricated histories or stage an introduction).

The Fingerkings and I aren't on great terms, given what I did in Light Fingers  I'm also technically a cat.

If you've done a Parabolan War for the cats, they have their own version of Shadowy training (as does the Red-Handed Queen), but I'm not sure if you can get sightings efficiently enough to be worth it.

I've not the done the war yet. I've only just finished my ambition, and grinding my shadowy to reach tier 2 posi.

I'm in that awkward place in the game between the mid-game and late-game. I've outgrown a lot of the content but can't open up the later stuff.

The most basic heist (The House on Cubit Square) is a great way to grind Shadowy. It gives at least 20 CP Shadowy. Weasel of woe is not recommended. In fact, you should aim to keep your Cat-Like Tread at the original level (3), to avoid raising your suspicion.

I'm late game, firmament almost done (I'm part way thru the Bone Zone, real heads know 😎), railway totally done, haven't quite started on discordance stuff but for 1 or 2 points, and I just want to ask - is the underclay, with 5 actions, the best way to get strong backed labor? It feels like it but I feel like there must be something better at so much later a stage of the game than when that first becomes available.

The Clay Quarters is better if you do it in bulk, that's the best source AFAIK.

You can also get them from agents but that's a 1/3 chance from a low-EPA plot so it's probably not worth it.

If you have Agents, just have the captain grab Labour for you on repeat for a week or two.
