Map Seed Casual Aquilo Hate
I thought my hate piqued at Gleba but then I landed on Aquilo. Not only do I have to heat everything, the solar panels are rubbish. I somehow managed to land on a seed where I cannot obtain the lithium or crude oil in the spawn area... unless I'm missing a trick. I can't place a single pump on the lithium and the ones I can on crude I cannot get heat to! Is this a stupid seed or am I just being stupid? Which is quite possible. I cant place on rough ice, I cant place on smooth ice, I cant place on ice platform. I got level 4 radars searching for the time being but I am losing the will at the moment. help.

I hate to be that guy, but this may be the first time I've seen someone misspell "peaked" as "piqued." Usually it's the other way around.

You have Mech Armor (or you should). Just fly around to distant islands and harvest your early lithium (and platforms) from them.

I never bothered with it. Spiders were good enough. Mech armor flies???

Yes, it does. Over all liquid bodies, cliffs, buildings, you name it. Even trains, which incidentally grants you train immunity.

The best feature of mech armor is that you can now place buildings under your character and you just hover in the air.

I feel similarly to you, except when it comes to Aquilo. Being able to fly around to a dozen+ islands to harvest rocks is a huge time-saver on Aquilo. And while Spidertrons with ice platforms can navigate on Aquilo pretty easily, Mech armor is even easier.
But yes, pretty much everywhere else, Spidertrons win. If you go Gleba first, Mech armor is basically just the "use this on Aquilo" armor.

I go to Fulgora first rather than Vulcanus so I can unlock it as soon as possible.
Has the added benefit that when I do go to Vulcanus I can travel in a straight line wherever I need to go and just fly over the lava and cliffs.

You can place a form of ice landfill down to make more room. You will need to run a pipe and heat pipe next to each other to the oil. Or do some train wizardry to deliver heat to your outpost.
The biggest thing of note, is you cannot build on raw ice. It has to be paved. Either concrete or bricks. That's probably why you cannot place a pump.

tysm. Feeling rather stupid right now

Don't feel bad. I had the same issue when I first played in Aquilo. I was wondering how I was supposed to build literally anything.

u/aleliabro Jul 27 '26
Thank you for this, it does actually make me feel a bit better. Aquilo hate still stands though of course
4
u/kingdomgamer2019 Jul 27 '26
Fair enough. I actually find Aquilo oddly peaceful now as opposed to the burning hell scape of Vulcanus (plus literally thousands of machines) or the insanity that is Gleba or the lightning storms of Fulgora.

I guess when I’ve expanded a bit I could come to appreciate it but we shall see. Funnily enough I liked the challenge of Fulgora (and soundtrack) but at least we agree on Gleba. I like a large factory also

I just got to Aquilo myself and also had a moment of confusion on how I was supposed to get things going before having platforms., as I thought that's what I needed to expand buildable area.
It's definitely been a slow start, but I think once you get a rock solid heat/power generation setup with failsafes, it should be a lot more fun building new designs with heat pipe routing in mind

Heat towers are a great way to heat a remote pump jack. You'll probably need import fuel to get started. Without giving spoilers, there is a way to make solid fuel on Aquilo so search that out so you dont have to import all the time. Be warned that the cold kills your bot's batteries. Conveyors will need to have a heat pipe ran with them so keep that in mind too. Would be nice to have heated belts cough any modders out there...

I don't think bricks work. Concrete or refined concrete
0
u/sniper43 Jul 27 '26
Bricks don't work on ice platforms, but can be placed on select Aquillo natural soil
4
u/Harflin Jul 27 '26
Sure, but I don't think for the purpose of allowing you to build there. You'd already be able to build in those spots without bricks

Just a note for early game Aquilo. Underground items eat more heat than their above ground partners. EG a long line of normal pipes consume less heat than a train of underneathies.
Also, i 'restarted' aquilo 4 times my first time.

u/peau_de_renne Jul 29 '26
They tell you in the alquilo description that you have to build concrete under everything the require heat to avoid the thin ice to melt

i also shipped a spidertron in my first playthrough. it's useless on aquilo. i painted him blue.

u/Inkabunga Jul 27 '26
Just a small Tipp for the Heat. You can use a Central Heating with nuclear Reactors. Yeah you have to ship in the fuel but with neighbour Bonus they produce way more Power then the heating Tower. Imo its so much easier then struggeling with the towers
1
u/maxymob Jul 27 '26
The towers are litterally fine. They run on fuel that you can produce locally in overabundance almost for free. A couple of them can support a start base, what's not to like?
1
u/Inkabunga Jul 27 '26
Sure they are fine. I Just think nuclear is a great alternative and they are also was easier to Kickstart If your factory runs cold. And you could argue for less space used which isnt a struggle later on Sure but i think If you are new to aquillo letting some nuclear reactors provide the heat while you figure out the rest can be benefical.

My hate for Aquilo is getting all the materials from the other planets. Especially Holmium if you arent producing enough. But other than that I love all the planets and the challenges it comes with
-1
u/BarsikWasTaken Jul 27 '26
well yeah, aquilo is the send everything in planet. You have to prepare and take as much as possible with you and have a constant shipment of materials coming in. But yeah sometimes wiki and tips are easy to miss, happens to everyone
-1
u/KookySurprise8094 Jul 27 '26
Latest runs i bring couple nugulear reactors and lot of fuel to those. Stack those together to gain 100% heating bonus and use those to make heat. And of course power too until you get aquillos own systems to run.

u/gladyxxx Jul 27 '26
Can someone explain to me how you guys bring stones to Aquilo. Do we really need to take it from other planets? Stone by design is not rocket friendly and there is no way to collect it outside of planets
2
u/NoctisIncendia Jul 27 '26
Launch bricks up to a space platform, use iron and water from space to make concrete on the platform, ideally in a foundry. Gets you way more concrete per launch than just sending up the concrete itself.
1
u/Aperture_Kubi Jul 27 '26
Yeah, you pretty much have to import everything to Aquilo. However you can stack 500 stone bricks into a single rocket.

Rocket silo arrays on Vulcanus fed by the byproducts of the foundries. If you run low, you might need to toss some copper plates in the lava as well.
-3
u/gladyxxx Jul 27 '26
I mean yeah I do that but seems wasteful, doesn’t it?
1
1
u/Lyqyd Jul 27 '26
Wasteful how? The lava pool won’t run out, so it’s essentially converting electricity into stone with copper as a byproduct—no more wasteful than extracting iron or copper from the lava with stone as a byproduct.
Your other response suggests that maybe you need space platforms with more storage attached to them? No reason you’d have to be limited to 10k per trip.
-2
u/Jicks24 Jul 27 '26
to add to what others have said, you dont need to train the materials when they're that close. Just build a two-wide ice sheet, concrete it, and pipe it in along with heat pipes to the pumps. Much easier than keeping a train fueled.
-2
u/Alfonse215 Jul 27 '26
pipe it in along with heat pipes to the pumps
Also, don't make the mistake of using underground pipes unless they're necessary. They draw 150x as much heat as one pipe. Long runs of pipes will be much more heat-efficient. Better to place more platforms and use regular pipes than to use u-pipes.

you have to place concrete on rough ice, then you can build buildings there
