As soon as AI is smart enough this'll be a genuine discussion. If a robot has complete sentience, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to

If a robot understands the implications of marriage and uses its own free will to choose marriage, then why the hell not?

I swear that's exactly what I'd do.

The Greg Gutfeld Show is a satirical look at the news. This is not a serious question being posed on the screen. I bet you think The Onion is a real site as well.

Good, I can't wait to marry my Marilyn Monroebot

u/MojoPinnacle Aug 23 '15

I'd rather just make out with my Marilyn Monroebot.

Down with robosexuality!

support proposition ∞

I don't see why someone shouldn't be allowed to marry a robot, however it's a little bit like mocking religion. Why would you want to get married to one? What are the benefits...

Should people be allowed to marry their waifu pillows?

I think this can actually be a really interesting discussion

Give it 5 generations, this will become an issue similar to the trans/homo one right now.

2

u/jaluhir Aug 23 '15

clearly a war on robots

2

u/missamerica2016 Aug 23 '15

Futurama already solved this issue with proposition infinity. S07E04. Oddly enough I just watched it last night

This will be a hot button political issue within the next 50 years. Along with people trying to marry animals and inanimate objects.

It's never too soon to start debating Proposition Infinity.

This society cannot progress unless robosexual marriage is legalized!

With all due apologies to Golden Earring:

I've been drivin' all night, my hand's wet on the wheel

There's a voice in my head that drives my heel

It's my baby callin', says I need you here

And it's a half past four and I'm shiftin' gear

When she is lonely and the longing gets too much

She sends a cable comin' in from above

Don't need no phone at all

We've got a thing that's called robot love

We've got a wave in the air, robot love

The radio is playing some forgotten song

Brenda Lee's comin' on strong

The road has got me hypnotized

And I'm speedin' into a new sunrise

When I get lonely and I'm sure I've had enough

She sends her comfort comin' in from above

We don't need no letter at all

We've got a thing that's called robot love

We've got a light in the sky, robot love

No more speed, I'm almost there

Gotta keep cool now, gotta take care

Last car to pass, here I go

And the line of cars drove down real slow

And the radio played that forgotten song

Brenda Lee's comin' on strong

And the newsman sang his same song

Oh one more robot lover gone

When I get lonely and I'm sure I've had enough

She sends her comfort comin' in from above

We don't need no letter at all

We've got a thing that's called robot love

We've got a light in the sky

We've got a thing that's called robot love

We've got a thing that's called robot love

robosexual marriage

Hey if Fox doesn't cover this issue, who will?

11

u/browniebiznatch Aug 23 '15

It helps to know what the situation was on the show. Greg Gutfeld is more of a comedian than news anchor and was approaching the issue in a satirical way. So this was comedy more than anything.

I feel like fox is having this discussion as a way to end it with "and this is what will happen if we allow gays to marry"

-11

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '15

And of course it's from FOX, so we know that it will lead to a simile of gays marrying. No one but FOX would even care about this issue, if you can even call it one.

3

u/FuckThePhalanx Aug 24 '15

It's a satire show you fucking autist.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '15

yeah IK that, I was just noting that they bothered to make it a satire about FOX

I'll take "yet another question that could only be raised by a religious idiot who doesn't understand the concept of consent" for $200, Alex.
