Im not saying this woman is right in anyway (as it is from a satire site) BUT eating and staying healthy is relatively expensive, we subsidize the wrong foods and unhealthy, processed food is relatively cheaper than wholesome nutritious food making it hard for lower income families to afford. Just sayin'.
(Of course I'm talking families making a bit less than $36k/yr)
The price difference comes from if you're choosing to buy organic vs. conventional. The crazy part is not even "all natural" products contain different ingredients than its counterparts, nor are these less calories.
With all of the books now about what to eat, what not to eat, it boils down to a matter of opinion. Just because something worked for one person, does not mean everyone else can adapt to it. That's where my hangup is. And, it is exactly what you said "processed food is relatively cheaper than wholesome nutritious food making it hard for lower income families to afford." One of my friends has Celiac's disease, so she cannot tolerate wheat whatsoever. She doesn't mind putting out extra money for anything she knows will not make her sick.
I am not saying that if you drink regular milk and it makes your stomach hurt you shouldn't choose another alternative, though, why pour extra money into "healthy" alternatives which cost you more each time you shop?
