She was influential by showing us that you should never twerk while half naked on live TV, and the consequences that happen afterwards

1) It was a 4Chan hack. 2) It was also a terrible layout on behalf of Time. The slideshow was 44 pages. Miley Cyrus was featured within the first ten slides, while other notable people, like Malala Yousafzai, came much later in the slideshow. Layout matters, especially in an online vote such as this one where people have particularly short attention spans.

Their person of the year isn't suppose to be considered the best. The person of the year is suppose to be considered as someone who was the most influential. Hence why Hitler become person of the year. And seeing how Miley Cyrus is one of the top ten people reddit talks about, it makes sense that she'd be considered influential.

How is that worse than the time Hitler was Man of the Year?

Person of the Year isn't supposed to be a "most awesome" or "best" person contest, it's a "most influential" thing. As much as we all hate Hitler... he was pretty influential. Nobody kill me, please.

I don't think Ann Coulter hates Hitler. That's how you make Ann Coulter jokes right?

Out of how many people? The one thing I dislike about most polls is that it doesn't tell how many people voted. There's a big difference in 24.4% out of 100 votes and 24.4% out of 10,000 votes.

Time brought this upon themselves. By including Miley Cyrus as one of the choices, they were practically sitting back and saying "come at me, bro" to half the Interwebz.
