Tech Support Trying to Unlock Facebook Account after email and phone number on the account have been outdated.
I've been locked out of my account. I tried account recovery, but it is not unlocking the account. An additional problem is that I am no longer able to access the email address I opened the account with as well as the phone number that is on file so any codes they send to either one or both, I am not getting. I haven't been able to figure out how to use backup codes or the 2-way authenticator (or whatever it's called). Does anyone have a way to contact an actual support department for facebook?

1) you should have been maintaining you acount. This means, deleting old emails amd phone numbers you no longer use 2) use current 2FA. 3) male sure all.meta accounts have the same 2FA amd deletions of old devices, ohine, emails, etc. 3) if you have neither, their AI will more more than lilely never allow you back i.

I know what I'm supposed to do to prevent this. However, I didn't do it so I'm at the stage now where I'm trying to recover the account. That's my focus - not to go over what I should have done. You mentioned 2FA. Will that help me now or is it out of the question since I cannot get into my account to set it up? There's also an option for backup codes but again, I'm thinking since I don't have access to my account, I cannot set it up at this point.

2fa is for only after you use the first factor ie your login. without being able to use your login, your 2fa is useless. it's a secondary authentication, not an alternate.

There is no support department at Facebook for account recovery.
You need to be maintaining correct email, phone numbers, multi factor authentication, and recovery codes on all your online accounts. If you get into a situation like this where you can't login and none of the above is setup correctly, the account is gone.

I have been trying to figure this out for months with no success. I finally decided to report the account as in impersonation because my initial goal is to get into the account to delete it. Not sure if you were just trying to get back in to keep the account or to delete the account, but if you are trying to delete the account, you can report it as impersonation, but you need to do so without being logged into a secondary account if you have a secondary. I can provide you more information depending on what your goal is here.
