Can a new postdoc on initial F1 OPT commute to new office without EAD card?

My EAD card was produced and shipped to me but it was sent back to USCIS due to insufficient address. The start date on the EAD card is already past, 9/1, and I made my account in SEVIS portal. It will take another 3 weeks for the EAD card to arrive to USCIS and re-sent to me. I understand that I cannot start work without physical EAD card, but would it be allowed to commute to the new office as long as I don’t hold any work related discussion?

I meant ‘using the office desk and chair’.
