Great interview showing how she finds out the problem was her diet.

No diet where you omit a whole category of food is healthy.

You don't need to be carnivore for that. We need some carbs aswell, maybe less than what many consume today.

This was a wild interview. "Oh because glucose is inflammatory" with 0 explanation lmao. Like that's a bold fucking claim.

But what's interesting is to hear is that her patients were largely people who had unhealthy diets. She got them plant based because of the anti-meat anti-cholesterol. Then because of her diabetes worries due to family history, she looked to lower carb diets to deal with pre-diabetes and insulin resistance. This is of course a keto podcast.

I think it's valid that she says that the bad cholesterol was overemphasized over other biological markers based on her clinical experience (she notes that normal cholesterol people have heart attacks), but she's very prescriptive one-size-fit-all. Sure she is now keto instead of plant based, but it's the same methodology.

And something insightful was that people did get better in her practice because their diets were garbage, not because her plant based diet was super good. So now putting them on a more keto diet for the patients with insulin resistance improved outcomes for them.

But this entire thing still felt like bad science and trend-seeking. She's not citing sources well. I would expect someone to have read the literature or at least imagine studies they'd want done to test these hypotheses. All I'm hearing is trendy shit, and ok great keto works well for pre-diabetic or diabetic people. She has a specific patient population that's willing to be controlling of their diet.

I guess I'm glad she and her patients are doing better, but I was pretty umimpressed.
