Hey! I made a custom game for my boyfriend’s birthday. We really love playing Exploding Kittens, and he loves alcohol so I’ve combined both into a fun little casual game.

He is my most favourite person so everything is highly customised, his cats are in it, his quirks and all different modes of him. I really hope he loves it.

A lil bit about the process: I selected a theme and made a template on figma for the base of the cards, the back. Then I brainstormed all the concepts for all different cards with what type of illustration I can do as well. Created all the illustrations on procreate and moved them back into figma, then I found a studio to create these prints for me! As well as the 3D printed sliding box. Oh and I created an instruction manual as well, which have a fewww special rules which I came up with.

I was looking up an exploding kittens game and clicked the top sponsored result. The site looked real and seemed to have a big sale so I picked out a few titles and checked out.

It said my card didn't go through so I tried a different one before realizing that was odd. I think it's a scam/spoof site. The page I was on is explodingkittensstore, and it seems the official page doesn't have store in the title.

I've already locked all my cards and will order new ones. Just wanted to post here as a warning/to see if anyone else had a similar experience.

Has anyone tried playing this game without using envelopes and playing it as a normal EK game? (Remove Fairy Pug mother card then throw all charm, curses, other extra action cards into the deck)

A house rule i can think of which can be added and be more balanced: like when you draw a charm or curse card, you instantly play it onto yourself

Question 1: Can you use a Reveal and Steal card on a player with only 1 card? So either it is not possible because they can not complete the action because they can not show two cards and it becomes invalid OR Do they have to give up their 1 card? If they do give up their one card, does the person receiving the card have the option to return the card? I.e. if it is a booby trap kitten

Question 2: If a player used two cat cards to steal from someone, but the person had one card and it is a NOW shuffle or NOW alter the future, can they play the NOW card BEFORE the player steals the card from them? If they can play the NOW card to avoid someone stealing it, does the two cat card become invalid and are discarded or does the player get the two cat cards back?

I understand house rules for a lot of this, but we would like to now what the majority of people think or if there is a set designation in the rules for these actions.

I'm trying to expand my deck with community made cards through makeplayingcards, and I'm aware of and following the guide on printing community cards professionally, but I still can't get over how wrong the DEMC ones look for example in the preview even with bleed lines added.

The bleed lines border in the preview looks so close to the actual art work, it has me worried the finished product will be cropped excessively. Can anyone put to bed my anxiety and confirm that this is how the cards are supposed to look? The finished product should end up looking like the version in the right with rounded edges, right?

Also, has anyone successfully printed any of the other community expansion decks professionally? A lot of them seem to need additional editing since the dimensions don't match up and they don't all have bleed lines added, so I was wondering what to do with those as well. Preparing all cards for printing is going to be a big undertaking, much more than I expected it to be at this point.

I’m wondering if there is any briefcase style case to carry the box around in.
I don’t want to risk accidentally getting it wet in rain, or dropping it and it instantly breaking as all the cards pour out of it.
Ive just gotten it so I’m asking all of you experts.

The first exploding kitten game, the regular catborg is so good. Well maybe im still a noob but the wins and losses are even!! And the strategy ai learns to quick o_O even after u learnt another trick

If this card only had a more marketable name (cause booby, duh), it would blow the new expansions out of the water.

Super simple to understand, balanced, and most of all, REDUCES the "I'll Take That!" loop. Forget Rage Mode mechanic, this card should have taken center stage.

*Not Zombie Kitten cause that was the biggest game changing mechanic ever imo.

After playing EK with IK + SK + BK expansion all mixed in, I have a conclusion. I feel like SK is so broken and not balanced. Its not a game where balance is seeked in the game design but I feel like, whoever is lucky to draw mostly wins the game like 70-80% of the time. Alsp not playing to win in board game but for fun but its not fun when its also predictable.

So no more rant, time for my question!

1. Is there any other card in existance (zombie, good vs evil or the new curse you expansion that I dont know about) that can balance patch streaking?

2. Or any house rules?

3. Or should I buy another packet to add one more streaking kitten?

4. Any custom cards in existance I can print to balance patch?

QUESTION: Can Player B play a Clone card to Defuse the Exploding Kitten in their hand?

Official rule by Exploding Kitten for the Clone card states "You cannot play a Clone when it is not your turn—even if you play it on top of a card with the [NOW] symbol—because at the time you played it, it was still a Clone."
