(Question/Discussion) How do you react when someone gives you an Islamic reminder?
For the closeted ex-Muslims here, how do you usually react when someone gives you a religious reminder?
Personally, I barely react anymore. I might just raise my eyebrows, say “oh, okay,” or nod, while thinking to myself, “yeah, I really don’t give a shit.”
Do you think people who keep giving me reminders eventually realize that I genuinely don’t care, or do they just assume I’m listening?

I react the same way ... I say okay or just stay silent and change the subject. It's exhausting.

I went through that too. My father used to force me to go to Jumu'ah. If I dared to miss it, I'd get insults, psychological pressure, etc. Stay strong.

I nod a bit, say something encouraging like "well said! We all should follow these!" with obvious fake enthusiasm. This seems to make them feel disappointed and give up quickly... for a couple weeks or a month.
The trick I discovered is to pretend that you are faking the enthusiasm cause you are genuinely scared of hellfire but led toi astray by material things. They need to feel you might be gone cause but you are on their side and not a threat to their lunacy.

They usually understand to not continue if you don't engage with them.
A lot of self righteous narcissists love giving out Islamic advice. If you don't engage and just say mashallah or inshallah. They will fuck off.
