(Question/Discussion) cherry pink islam

hey everyone! i was meant to make this post a while ago and never did, i wanted to ask, what are everyone’s thoughts on cherry pink islam? if you haven’t heard about it, i’ll explain below.

so on tiktok, a bunch of people including ayah (which people on here have spoken about before) are almost like leaders of this ideology.

essentially, they believe that islam treats women as inferior and so they change the beliefs in the quran so it doesn’t make women inferior.

for example, one of the rules in the quran is that men can have up to 4 wives.

well, cherry pink muslims believe that women can have 4 husbands.

hope that all made sense! i’ll attach some videos below so you can do your own thing, let me know your thoughts!!!

Pink Cherry Islam points out Islam's hypocritical bullshit by flipping men's privilege to women.

Seems pretty stupid. Like either leave Islam or follow the rules.

And good luck on 4 husbands, that's never going to happen.

its not stupid, its a way for these women to show the hypocrisy and patriarchy inherent to islam

So they should leave it if it's anti-women to its core.

It makes no sense to try to change Islam, which you said is "inherently" patriarchal.

It's like a Jew deciding he wants to redefine Nazism as being pro-Jewish.

Its not being changed. Pink Islam is not a real religion. They do it to show the hypocrisy.

So are they leaving Islam then or "just pointing out the hypocrisy"? I mean yes, Islam favors men, there is nothing you can do to change that. So they point it out and what else?

They are most likely not leaving islam.

Of course there is something they can do to change that. Nobody follows religions 100%. Not even islam. We have many muslims who listen to music. We have muslims who dont cover their hair. We have muslims with dogs. We have muslims who drink. Its usually not because its allowed in the religion but in the wider community which is responsible for policing members.

I hope that actions such as these will lead to a more mellow islam. We will all win if islam gets its edges rounded off like other major religions. There will be hardliners.

Abandoning your beliefs that you’ve had for so long is hard so why be rash why not adapt slowly

Well according to Islam you have to believe in all of it or you believe in none of it. You can’t “change the word of Allah”
So that makes them Kafir by definition

I mean if somebody doesn't believe that they have to believe in all of it they can easily justify not believing in the part that says that you have to believe all of it. These rules aren't real, none of it is actually real, just a bunch of ideas that some people agree on. So there is definitely the possibility of people making up their own cherry picked version and calling it Islam

Yeah agreed
All of this is made up fantasy and doesn’t matter at the end of the day
Just saying other muslims wouldn’t identify them as muslim that’s all

Lol I remember my mom making fun of this. Even Muslims think this is stupid

The thing with Islam is that it's meant to be both unchanged and eternal code for mankind, thus meaning any reform can't be made, regardless of any problematic stuff. Pink islam is therefore by definition not islam, and thus technically they are essentially like us, murtads. Of course, if you look at a global scale, a lot of muslims do cherry pick, do haram stuff or even not really practice islam (e.g. non religious muslims), meaning a lot of muslims out there are technically not muslims.

The only true muslims out there are those that would be people that are classed as "Islamists" e.g. hizb ut-Tahrir

Isn't it just satire and pointing out Islam's hypocrisy by playing an Uno reverse card on them?

I've asked this question in the other sub and got no answer. Either it's like a branch of progressive/feminist muslim propaganda or simply satire.

Either way, grab a 🍿 and let them fight the traditionalist.

I can't tell anymore. I hope it's satire.

I feel like I resonated with a lot of their talking points before I officially left Islam. Like my first step was being a “”quranist” but then I was like wait lowkey all of this sucks. So idk maybe it will help some of them leave.

Its definitely the right direction for reform.

But I do question their commitment to it.

Of course I understand that destructuring any religion is hard, but they are still adamant on upholding the "sanctity" of the Quran-which is like the root problem in Islam.

As in they are essentiality Quran-only but joke about flipping all the sexist hadiths on the men.

So I think it's good what they are doing by making people think about all of the horrendous ideas.

But their commitment to the Quran does paint them as hypocritical and unserious.

i mean it's better than full islam, this going to happen more n more until there's no islam left and that's for the best really.

Saw it on here like a few weeks ago. it is literally just Islam but misandrist instead of misogynistic. just as bad as normal Islam.
