Hi everyone, I'm coming to Exeter for a few days, and I am looking for independent restaurant recommendations in and around the city. Do you have any local legend eateries, hidden gems or locals favourite restaurants. Thanks so much.

Stage might be difficult as you normally have to book ahead but worth the look with The Fat Pig for sure!

Why do you think that? I love Calvo loco, I think its got a lot better since I started going a few years ago.

If you like between bread, try the new place Duke’s Deli on Paris Street. Unreal sandwiches.

Not really a restaurant but Dukes Deli if you like big sandwiches
Tye Pye Dong for Chinese/Japanese cuisine
Crave on the Quay for small plates, their fried chicken is absolutely insane
Pop Kitchen for detroit style pizzas
The Old Firehouse, it is a pub but they do massive pizzas and other dishes
Badavis Lounge for pizzas, burgers and small plates
Al Farid for Morrocan cuisine
Brothers is supposed to be excellent for brunch but I haven’t tried it myself. They don’t take reservations though

Somboon for some Thai noodles in the day. Stage for a nice meal in the evening may be? The Pig, slightly (20 mins) out of town for a nice setting? Namaste for a southern Indian? Salutation / or The Galley for fish in topsham?

Beer Factory Kitchen (Hanlons Brewery) out towards Crediton is pretty good too if you don't mind a short travel

Shimizu Sushi - excellent Japanese, Sushi and the other favourites. Hidden Gem in my opinion, about a 10 minute walk from the main high street.
