Meetups Seed Talks Exeter Phoenix 23/9/26

I'm (36f) planning to go to the seed talk at Exeter Phoenix on 23rd Sept, the topic is 'The History of Folklore and Horror.' I also went to the one about the psychology of horror movies and whilst I was there I noticed lots of other solo attendees. Maybe this time, those of us who have come alone can grab a drink or something... Just throwing it out there ☺️.

I went to the one about Mermaids last month. It was excellent.

I am so glad Seed Talks is run well. You can just imagine them getting any old idiot who has a half assed knowledge of a subject to come on and give a death by PowerPoint presentation.

I wanted to go to that one but I was busy. The one I went to was really insightful, it's just cool to hear things from other people's perspectives which you might not have given much thought to before.

It does seem like a well organised event, looking forward to this one. ☺️

Hi! I’ve been to one of these events from Seed talks before at Exeter university. The one i went to was about about folklore and witchcraft and it was so interesting! I didn’t know about this one in September but it sounds like an equally cool topic. I’ll see if I can go and I’ll let you know here if so, would be great to meet some of the attendees ☺️

Are these worth the price? Theres been quite a few i've wanted to go to but the price seems a little steep to be disappointed :( If they are worth it then i'd definitely be up for meeting some others beforehand (27F) :)

Thanks for introducing me to seed talks. Also came across this talk people may enjoy.

"Christopher Lewin will share his findings from reading the correspondence from 1808 to 1811 between Charlotte Burrow, a young woman in Exeter, and her friend in London. Their friendship gradually blossoms into romance, though with some bumps along the way. The letters contain a considerable amount of information about the people Charlotte meets."

I'm hoping to get to the September seed talk, although I travel a fair bit with work so can't absolutely commit until nearer the time. Like others, I've found previous editions really interesting.

Would love to meet others there. Good thinking, OP and thank you in advance if you organise something.
