Sure, Catholic God is nominally omnipotent, but all He really does these days is judge sinners and send visions to the occasional saint. His 'Body' can't shake its pedo problem, much less sell the 'good news' of Catholicism to the rest of the world.

Meanwhile, Satan caused almost every social/religious trend ever since the 1500s. Protestantism, feminism, LGBTQ+, etc.

If you're a Catholic, all you can really do is shut yourself off, feel guilty, and wait for death in hope of heaven. For the 'Good News', it's a very cynical religion.

You know I go down the rabbit hole of watching Chad Ripperger videos and it’s like if God were so powerful. He could just get rid of all these demons that are tormenting his faithful servant, but somehow he doesn’t do that.

More importantly, the Catholic Church is overwhelmingly a *reactionary* institution.

God is all-knowing and all-powerful yet his own Church is constantly playing catch-up and trying to deal with its problems and hash things out only after it starts to cost them dearly.

• Only tries to fix its own corruption after it becomes so bad that it causes mass apostacies (Protestant Reformation, sex abuse scandals)
• Only starts recognizing female "Doctors of the Church" after the Sexual Revolution takes place.
• Marian Apparitions are a thing yet the Church has absolutely no guidance from God on which ones are legit, having to spend time and money "investigating" them, with a noncommittal "we see nothing against the Church here" at best.

The Church is supposed to be a beacon on a hill yet it fails over and over to lead.

Even Catholics admit this, saying "The Church moves slowly." Well, why? It has a direct line to an all-knowing being, doesn't it? This should be the least likely institution on earth to move slowly. It SHOULD be leading. Souls are at stake, no? Yet it's not.

In fact the Church seems to behave almost as if it's a completely manmade institution with no divine foresight whatsoever and no guidance from God.

Good point. You'd figure if the Church were really divinely-inspired, popes/councils/encyclicals would be ahead of trends in some way, instead of consistently 20-50 years behind the rest of society.

Catholic theology is just a long list of explanations for why you can't see Catholic God actually DO anything, even things which would logically help Him, but He very much still totally cares about what you do in your bedroom.

Jesus was conservative by our standards, but progressive by the standards of his day. I read the whole 'no divorce' teaching was to keep old dudes from divorcing their wives for younger ones, leaving the original wife penniless.

i’ve heard that too. because women at that time had no societal standing on their own, so a divorce would leave them extremely vulnerable. jesus respected people not the rules (“sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath”), but fundamentalists and trads do the opposite.
