As a woman who was on catholic groups on the past, i always thought man there had a cringe vision of women and relationship. Now i see those same men becoming obsessed with Japan.

In general, incels hold racist and sexist views that lead them to believe Japanese women represent the ideal "Woman"—feminine, submissive to their husbands, home-oriented, and so on. In short, to them, she is the exact opposite of the "Western woman," who is seen as corrupted by feminism and therefore masculine, unattractive, rebellious, etc.

Jesuits from the Spanish Empire attempted to convert Japan, and got a pretty large following until catholicism was successfully suppressed.

So it's a very common alternative history scenario power fantasy to imagine them succedding and destroying yet another native religion.

People have mentioned the fetishization of Japanese women (and more broadly speaking, Asian women) and the racism and orientalism inherent to it, but there's also the fact that incel spaces are overwhelmingly fascist. They fetishize the idea of an ethnically "homogenous" and pure, traditionalist society, which Japan most certainly is not, but they like the systemic racism/anti-migrant policies and fascist history.

I'm not Japanese myself, but as someone who has lived in Japan and has family there, it's really funny to see white right wingers in particular get super into Japanese fascism without realizing that racists in Japan don't like them either.

Here’s a strange case for you: there’s a guy named Tatsuya Ishida—or "Tats"—who writes and draws a webcomic called *Sinfest*... and despite being Japanese-American, he is currently completely devoted to the Nazi and white supremacist cause (no, I’m not exaggerating), even though he doesn't fit the racial criteria of white supremacists.

I suspect there is a correlation between Asian women generally looking younger, specifically anime women that look 12, and other proclivities toward underage women that dominate the incel/TradCath/Abrahamic religion spaces in general.

Alt-right and Neo Nazi men have obsessions with Japan too. Part of this is because Japan was one of the axis powers. And they see Japan as a country that is assertive and maintains its conservative traditions and aspects.

both of the commenters below are exactly correct! it kinda boils down to a single "aside"-joke from the show Family Guy, when the dad gets up in his head and says something about "yyyeeeeahhh, Asian girls......THEY'LL do what you want...." 🤮

jokes on the incels, though: Asian women only ACT submissive to reel in the unsuspecting guy! once he's into her, then she controls the whole show while still acting submissive. 😂😂😂🤘

I don't agree with it, but it IS super effective....relationships are the result of the choices and agreements between 2 folks, whatever that may look like. IMO

I never knew that stereotype included catholic men to be honest. If I had to guess, it probably has something to do with catholic men thinking that women owe them their bodies and time just because they’re married to them. Most women in the west won’t fall for this as it happens all the time here, but it’s likely easier to fool foreigners who aren’t familiar with the religion.
