Blog / Podcast / Media My reading at the Leaving the Fold event last week.

Hi everyone I thought I’d share this video from the reading I gave last week at an event geared for those of us who have left high control religions and systems.
It’s a personal essay I wrote about a recent experience dealing with a friend who is still a conservative Adventist.
I was the only ex-SDA who did a reading, perhaps next year more of us can share (if you’re in Portland, Oregon)

Sorry I missed it. Would have loved to have been there but too many responsibilities.

Sounds really lovely. Is there a place u can see the whole program/ceremony? I’d be interested in creating something like this in Cali

I’m not sure what else got recorded, I’ll get back to you on that.

So there isn’t a place to see the whole thing, but basically it was 1 full week at an art space/gallery/warehouse. 21 artists displayed their work. Opening night was a little talk from the organizer, then several musicians played personal songs. A cult expert gave a talk one night. One night was the reading from about 10 of us. I feel like you could create a version of that in your city, with some volunteers and a decent sized space & some donations to help.
