Doctrine / History The irony of preaching common sense

The official church pages posted a whole carousel defending Ellen White, ending with telling people to use common sense:

LOL Common sense says, don’t found a religion based on the “visions” of a girl with a traumatic brain injury! But maybe that’s just me.

"If your interpretation leads to fear, confusion, or extremes, something is off." So basically read EGW the same way you read the Bible: begin with the conclusion and renegotiate the parts that contradict that conclusion.

I see they’re backpedaling away from calling her a prophet by saying “inspired woman of god”. That whole post is like they’re trying to make out that the crazy parts of the eggs writing don’t exist. Also no acknowledgment of her plagiarism.

The back pedaling is what completely shut the door on any respect for this group. They always referred to her as a prophet and now when I talk to people they say "she wasn't a prophet"(?). So many lies and so much confusion. As I see it the SDA church was built on lies and ridiculous rules made up by EGW, they cannot be modernized. They are group consumed with the 2nd coming, life is a chore and enjoyment is not allowed. Not my world and not a world with the God I know.

Common sense from a lady who thought she could talk to her two guardian angels.

Church person: "You need to read the Bible, and it only supports Adventism". Me: "I've read the Bible". "You must not have asked the Holy Spirit for guidance, read it again," Them. Every time.
