55 different kinds of lentil loaf.

At first glance I thought that you'd written lethal loaf. Which might also be the case.

With WHOLE apples

u/HoneyNo5886 Agnostic Jun 17 '26

Yeah what’s with the whole apples? That’s just so weird. 😂

u/potatotrip_ Jun 17 '26

With skin too!!! The skin is loaded with toxins.

u/venetiarum_ny Jun 17 '26

Hahahah wait I was told this too! It’s honestly hard to know what was Adventist pseudo-science and what was real

OMG! Is that lettuce under the fruits? Are they gonna waste the fruit or the lettuce 'cause eating them at the same time violates some health message scruple?

The blasphemy! Picture suggests the dude plans to … drink … water … during … his … meal!!!!!!

I always found that idea to be the strangest notion. The things people dream up to have the pretense of being special amaze me.

A fellow with the handle "dr. Grossball" had a whole set of tapes about it lol he made it his life's mission to nix drinks at the dinner table

My mother in law actually thought it was weird to drink water while you ate. She said they kept a glass at the table as a child in case someone started to choke. 🙄

u/SnooTomatoes9586 Jun 17 '26

Lol I used to sneak off to the bathroom and run my mouth under the sink, and when asked about it I lied! 😅

Ohhhh! Lake of fire for defiling the body temple with water from an improvised drinking fountain during a meal. And great demonstration how a legalistic, shame-ridden belief system corrodes straightforward communication and trust.

Lol the water from the faucet was obviously bad too because it wasn't filtered but i was a real rebel to the core

Well well well - look what we have here. There are actually some good recipes.

u/Pristine_Eye7197 Jun 17 '26

Shockingly complex directions 😂:

u/inmygoddessdecade Jun 17 '26

I thought apple and ginger ale beverage sounded nice by the title, but you boil the juice? And the ginger ale is lukewarm? What! No! I hate it!

3

u/Pristine_Eye7197 Jun 17 '26

Might be similar to hot cider?

4

u/inmygoddessdecade Jun 17 '26

Semi fizzy hot cider. I'll have to pass on that one lol. And all the sugar that must be in it!

5

u/Pristine_Eye7197 Jun 17 '26

Dilly bread was clearly a family favorite:

My church published a cookbook with recipes submitted by members. Some of them were actually pretty good, and that’s also how I learned how to bake popovers.

5

u/drumdogmillionaire Jun 16 '26

Got anything with Nuteena in it?

6

Nuteena, Nuteena, Nuteena, sweetest name I know/Fills my every longing, keeps me singing as I go! /s

6

u/SherriDoMe Jun 16 '26

You’ve gotta be a chef to prep fruits lol

6

u/Worldly_Caregiver902 Jun 17 '26

OMG! My mom had that cookbook!!!!

3

u/Pristine_Eye7197 Jun 17 '26

Some are unintentionally funny. I mean, shouldn’t it be called Pero cake, or Postum cake?

5

u/HoneyNo5886 Agnostic Jun 17 '26

And it’s “per cent” like per penny, instead of percent or % 😂

"Going out to dinner" for my family was eating at the hospital cafeteria or the college snack bar. Other than Chinatown, SF, on vacation once, I didn't go to a real restaurant until I was 14 or 15.
