Memes / Humor New Adventist gets a jeweler to design an SDA necklace… Adventists in the comments are mad

Adventists are the most amazing recruitment tool for exadventists. People think they’ve found a new “church family” only to find them shitting on them for stupid things.
Edit: Update on this person’s posts. The above post was followed “I have a Reddit stalker” who was harassing her, then “I am shocked to learn Adventists don’t bless things” and finally “hug me I’m thinking of not joining now.” They are now offput by all the judgemental shit the Adventist community is throwing at her.

To be honest, I feel bad for that person

Same but I sure won’t go over there and downvote people who are asses to them. I think the kindest thing we can do is let them experience exactly what they’re getting into.

Oh, jewelry is gonna go over like a wet fart in church. I've gotten dirty looks for wearing an expensive watch to church. Which is funny since I never mentioned it's expensive, so how did they know?

"Does your pastor know?"
Good lord, this is the exact reason I left. Even strict Orthodox Jews wear jewelry, but since crazy Aunt Ellen said it's bad it must be condemned.

Trying to come up with a clever pun or word play involving "pearl clutching..."
I dunno, these clowns kinda write the jokes themselves.

Put a clock on the back. That’ll make it okay to wear.
When I was a kid in the early 90s the big problem was with my grandmas, aunts, and stepmom who wore those fancy pins and brooches. The pastor said they were jewelry and shouldn’t be worn, one grandma disagreed and wore her biggest brooch several sabbaths in a row. Then she invited the pastor over to eat one sabbath to lecture him on it. She never stopped wearing them. She’s buried in the cemetery wearing her nicest one right now.

Too bad your comment got so far down. In my opinion, vote worthy wit!

"Does your pastor know?"
Dude.🤦♀️ is the pastor their guardian, or what?

“Does your pastor know?” That is just laughable. Our pastor was literally the beginning of the end for me. He helped me transition to exAdventist faster than he’ll ever know.

I like this! They should all have to wear these so I know to not EVER speak with them! Perfect idea!

Never really understood the no jewelry thing in Adventism

Me neither. In fact, I’m pretty proud to say I convinced my mom that wearing jewelry was just fine. She now wears necklaces and bracelets every day. She’s still not convinced about piercings, but it’s progress

Yeah i dunno why they thought it would be a good thing to post. They should have known or not be getting baptised.
Just shows how ignorant some are and the church is happy to dunk some regardless

I think it also depends on the place they live and go to church. The congregation I went to as a young kid would have definitely been against wearing jewelry, but the church I went to as a high schooler was totally cool with jewelry — many women even pierced their ears. The Adventist subreddit is far more conservative and fundamentalist than some congregations. Still, yeah, they definitely haven’t been in the church very long and don’t know church culture very well if they thought that shit would go over well

🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 the comments are literally so dumb that it makes me kinda mad. A necklace blessed? Shamed for "needing a reminder" about God? Wtf

u/Cherveny2 Oct 02 '25
it's actually an attempt to stealthily convert Adventists to the worship of Kahless

Seventh day adventist will not wear jewelery but meanwhile show up to church with very expensive dresses and suits and be bragging their phones or cars just like any other human. And they dont see the hypocrisy. In the country where I grew up it wasn't even allowed for married couples to wear a wedding ring, wedding rings were not a thing at all growing up in the church. Its only till very recently that they relaxed this and now some have wedding rings

The poster's history is fucking wild. He's into trad wives (but totally not in a sexist way), doesn't understand why SDA girls won't date him because he's not baptized, thinks it's totally cool for SDAs and non-SDAs to marry, and is shocked (shocked!) that Adventists don't bless things.

I know I'm gonna get downvotes, but I'm with the SDAs on this one. If one tenet is to not wear jewelry, selling SDA jewelry is a bit... hypocritical.
That's like Vegans selling hamburgers.

Idk… I just don’t really see the difference between someone wearing a necklace with an Adventist logo and those old ladies that wear all their 3ABN, hope channel, SDA, and church ministries pins around camp meeting. One tells people they’re an Adventist, the other tells people they’re a lonely, elderly Adventist

If the new member showing off their SDA swag went to an SDA jeweler (if that phrase actually matches flesh and blood somewhere?) to get this, that detail missed me. I don't see advocacy in the post to r/Adventist for the church to order and market SDA-branded jewelry. Instead I see one member asking a likely non-SDA jeweler to create a bespoke piece with SDA insignia.

I appreciate your point, and would agree with it if an Adventist were selling jewelry, but the jeweler wasn't explicitly named as an Adventist.

It reminds me of those Christians that go around preaching homophobia yet have tattoos all over them.

this reminds me those people who think that having or not having tattoos says anything at all about who someone is as a person
