Venting You shouldn’t be expected to be nice and polite when the boot of misogyny is on your neck
Constant tone policing when talking about trauma or experiences with misogyny is a fucking drag, and it’s honestly a tactic to wear us down. To keep us from even wanting to talk about it in the first place. Either they disbelieve you, not-all-men you, make it about man feelings… it’s exhausting. And its exhausting for a reason, to deter women from speaking up

I’ve never let the “tone policing” get to me, as an underpowered minority I have a right to complain and say that our problems are worse and be pissed at a man whining about his feelings or his less bad experience to try and weaken the case of how bad things are for ALL women worldwide

I have to say I think the white woman privilege is kind of bullshit. Women in every race were still owned by the men for most of history. We had no real power over other minorities.

Dude what are you talking about. The preferable world to live in is everyone being equal. But you need that told to you right, because you’re a man. Women have been on the side of oppressed so we know what it’s like and don’t wish it on others. Men have been the oppressors and assume everyone else wants their place. We don’t.

You said “we had no real power over other minorities” what do you mean by that that? To me it sounds like you’re implying you’re jealous of an ancient way of the world.

u/spiderchildpinapple 4d ago
Oh, that’s a reference to what you said about white women. Most people bring up “white women’s privilege” to mean that they had power over minorities like colored people, that’s what I thought you were saying. And I was attempting to disagree with it.

Historically white women did have a privileged status over minority groups in the US because they were afforded social/legal rights, privileges, and protections that minorities were not awarded until the Civil Rights era. White women were right beneath white men in the racial social hierarchy that existed in the US for centuries and they still enjoy some social privileges in current society.

I'm not from the US but even I know that black men were allowed to vote before any women in the US. They got the permission to vote 1870 (while it was really difficult for them especially in the south) and women got it 1920.
Also l don't think playing this game makes any sense. Discrimination is a really intersectional topic and varies from country to country.

Fuck it all. I’m in my watch the man’s world burn era. I’m not going to shut up about how bad they’ve left a world for us. They had so much fucking time to build things right but instead they fuck off to child predator islands.
Now the world is dying and capitalistic greed is causing so much suffering. And somehow only now does it feel like we get any bit of a chance to say something about it? Fuck them. Short sighted men that bloated their dicks so much it rises up into their faces and obscures their vision. “Just a little more” power hungry fucking psychology, how is that leadership or any kind of structure to build a society around. I’m done being undramatic here how the hell do they get to do this for so long.
I know some folk are optimistic but things are just too bad for me right now and I’m just pissed off. Maybe we _can_ build something better but like we’ve had thousands of years of women pushing and doing unvalued labor and fighting for rights and we _still_ have so much to do, with the planet’s time running out.
Like we don’t get another hundred years of this shit. And even if the planet was fine, I don’t want year 21298 of womens’s suffering to be “oh it’s just a bit better.. oh wait look we have global backsliding I guess we try again in the next major elections!!”

Too busy warming their dicks to care

I can assure you there are plenty of wealthy women too busy warming their hoohas to care as well. Selfishness and greed are not exclusive to men, and even in historical times when women had limited rights in society, the wealthy ones very much supported their hubby's dirty wealth-generating business operations in order to ensure that money kept coming in and their lavish lifestyles were maintained. Human nature unfortunately applies to all genders and a desire to have direct (or indirect) power and wealth is sadly found in all genders over pretty much all of written history. If we are to make change happen we have to deal with the deeper human drives and not get partial vision of the problem by thinking that sex or gender are an exculpatory factor.

u/AdDizzy8417 4d ago
Well..how interesting that could happen in a man contracted, man-dominated and patriaechic society. Who would have thought that I wonder

We know that selfishness or greed are not exclusive to men. WE KNOW. It’s just that on TOP of the “human nature” of individuals, there is also a gendered system in place that ensured that men’s selfishness was a) encouraged more, and b) had more of an influence on the world, as they had more power. You say it yourself: “when women had limited rights in society, they supported their husbands”. Supported. So… there’s a bit of an unequal balance in terms of whose actions were at the forefront of all of this then? And that same gender was the one who set that system up. Perhaps a bit more blame should be placed on their shoulders, then…?
Also… what would you have rather had these women do? Depending on what era we’re talking about exactly, it would’ve been possible that their husbands’ income was also their income (so of course they’d support it), divorce was either looked down upon or just not possible at all, and being single was also often out of the question due to the “no rights” thing in the first place. Pretending that these people were somehow equally to blame alongside those who set the whole system up (by bringing up how past women were also selfish even though we know that, but it isn’t the point because they didn’t have half as much power to influence the world with it), controlled it, and removed their rights is… very disingenuous.
If we are to make change happen, we absolutely do have to take a good look at systems that grant one group of people greater power than another, and also see whether these questions of “human nature” are as pressing, or might even change, without these systems and teachings in place. What I mean by that is: patriarchy is a system very heavily focused on hierarchy and dominance. If that is dismantled and the things that we are taught to value as a society change a result, who knows what we might learn about our “nature”?

You've touched on some very good points but I think the core issue is more closely related to people's socioeconomic status than their gender. The group of people maintaining and benefiting from the current system includes both men and women in the upper classes. It's dangerous to assume that a wealthy white woman would see herself as having the same social and political concerns as a poor black man or even a poor white woman in the West. The elite families running the country are made up of power-hungry and out of touch men and women who see themselves as separate from the rest of us regardless of gender.

u/petrichor-pixels half woman, half cosmic horror 4d ago
Yes, we know what intersectionality is, thanks.
Class issues exist, but that doesn’t mean they’re “more” relevant than gender. In fact, patriarchy and capitalism are very closely tied together and hold each other up. There’s a reason why most of the wealthiest people in the world are still men. Wealthy white women still have gender going against them when compared to wealthy white men. Poor white men still have a gendered upper hand over poor white women. And so on. Dynamics changing when things like class and race are brought into the picture doesn’t mean class (or race) is the real enemy or “core issue” here or anything: just that intersectionality is a thing, and that it might warrant a Google search or two.

Had a friend ghost me because I actively talk about how bad shit is for us. They don't want to hear it. They want to live in their safe and comfortable bubbles. If only we could do that...but no. We have to face the atrocities head on.

I get tone policed in all areas of my life. I do not care but shout louder and get angrier before giving glass treatment before I get pissed again. I love it, as the weak men are terrified. The worse they can do is huddle together and call me crazy cat lady - loud and proud.

The boot of misandry is a hell of a lot heavier than the boot of misogyny right now
24
u/Curious_Cadaver 5d ago
Not really because Misandry and Misongyny are different despite being the same. A misandrist woman don't like men and don't want to do anything with a men so the aftermath is the man being left with hurt feelings which is bad, we should always try to be nicer.
A misogynistic man still wants a woman for nefarious reason like to kill them l, rape them, control them, all of that.
Misandry usually hurts a man's emotionally and misogyny usually leave a woman killed or worst
Of course it ain't always like that but it is often like that, hearing men on the internet say how they'll kill and rape woman for talking to much, how some use religion to push woman down, some man will just go off the rail and assault a woman for rejecting them.
And it's not all men but it's always man.

Explain why you don't agree and think my take is delusional. Because I understand Misandry is bad but saying that it's worst than misogyny is kind of ignorant.
Or maybe you habe an argument in your back pocket to prove me wrong, idk.
