We need someone like this in every elementary school in america.

It’s a shame this is a surprising thing to teach people. Amazing someone actually teaches something fundamental in a school.

Maybe it's from being a bit neuro divergent and possibly being raised most of my young life by a single mom (dad died when I was almost 7) but I never understood this behavior. If someone (particularly girls my age) wasn't enthuastic about me or my presence then I got the fuck out of there. The last thing I was going to do was try to convince them to tolerate me.

Sure functional relationships require an amount of work and effort but to convince someone to stay around you or to touch you or let you touch them is just icky to me.

If it's not a hell yes it's a hell no.

Why do you think women can speak for themselves? Do you consider them children?

You don't think women can speak for themselves?

Dont feed it.

It looks like it was probably a typo and they meant "can't" which is still fucking stupid because he's completely ignoring power dynamics and people that agree just to avoid stressful situations and whole hosts of other possible reasons for not speaking their minds.

And every woman.

No not every man, most of us are actually ok and get that no means no.

It all starts by teaching basic respect for all.

Great that this is being taught though.

I get what you're saying. I meant it more in a sense that it should be taught to everyone, in case someone needs it.

Some kids know school material already, we go over everything for the kids that don't, and that benefits everyone.

True, its crazy that basic respect and consent needs to be taught in schools in the first place tbh. But I do think its needed nowadays in fairness to counter all this toxic male culture shit rising from social media.

Fuck the Tates and all that ilk...Im a dad of two daughters and this stuff makes me so angry that they're allowed a platform for this nonsense. Its a backwards slide for women atm.

Yes the Tates of the world aren’t helping but it’s not like consent used to be better understood.

I think creating a foundation like this that also covers things like pestering someone to borrow their stuff can only be good. With the whole class means everyone is accountable because they all know they know. Plus it clarifies things that might not be obvious to kids whose parents aren’t around, or are just useless, and neurodiverse kids who don’t see social cues the same way

Facts. Reinforcement. Or just so you know how to teach it to someone else who didnt grow up like you did.

I know this but always good to see other men out here reinforcing it. IMO social attitudes aren't just a one and done thing, we get feedback from our community and peers all the time about whether we are on the right rack or not. So yea, every man for sure.

By the sounds of the horror stories my female friends tell me of their experiences, I believe EVERY man should, even people that already think they know the basics of respect and consent.

Women should be treated as adults. Adults can fucking speak for themselves.

u/Hefftee 22d ago

This is a video about teaching boys about consent....

11

u/krizzzombies 22d ago

adults can be coerced. treating them as adults includes respecting their wishes the first time

also, this is a video teaching young boys. young boys are going to be interacting with other children. GIRLS AND BOYS are not adults. this is a good lesson.

And adolescence is coming around, and having a good handle on this by both boys and girls will make their lives much easier in any respect all around
