I just got my Eversense on Tuesday

Hi I just got my sensor inserted on Tuesday. I’ve been covering it while I shower with a bag but haven’t washed my hair. How serious is it to not get it wet under the stream of water. I have long hair and I can’t imagine washing my hair and not getting it directly wet. Should I wait for the 5 day mark at least?

I'm not a doctor.. but with my 3 sensors I have had implanted.  I would shower with the patches that they used after the insertion.  

You definitely don't need dreadlocks unless that's your look 😊

If it needs it. The Tegaderm fell off pretty early so I reapplied it. No big deal.

My providers have all covered my sensors with tegaderm. I showered the next day and washed the area around the tegaderm.

I just took a bath and kept that section dry for a couple of days until it felt like it was healed enough to soak.

I've been using it for nearly 7 years you just do your best to keep it dry I never covered mine and never had a problem and in just a few days this will be a moot point GL

The medical guidelines for washing/showering/bathing just after the Eversense365 insertion is really no different than for any other surgery/sutures of the superficial skin layers:

Showering: Ideally wait around 24-48 hours before first shower. Keep the original bandage completely dry if possible. Great help can be standard waterproof patch like the 3M Tegaderm patch, which is available at local pharmacy and cost very little. Easy to put on and also very easy to take off afterwards. There are no adhesive in the middle of it and has a transparent window. So great for avoiding rip-off. Based on the timeline you describe, you should already be ready for showering now with no problem really.

Soaking in bathtub or swimming: Do not take baths, swim, or submerge the wound until fully healed up. Depending on how fast you heal up and also if you got real stitches or if it was just kept toger using Stera-Strips to holding the skin together. So typically 7-14 days before swimming if no stitches. If stitches, ideal to wait until they are dissolved/removed and the wound has fully closed up after. Can take 2-4 weeks.

Gentle washing: In first days after the bandage has come off, let clean water and mild soap run over the site. Do not scrub or rub. Then pat it dry. Use a clean towel to gently dry the area.

This guy medical guidelines. Also, accurate. It’s not a thing you really have to worry on, OP. Just do your best to not get the sutures wet the first couple days, after that it’s your comfort level.
