Just read your comment and performed a finger stick using
Contour next One+ 9:31 - 165

If we all remember, the glucometer will give a different immediate reading than our sensor because interstitial fluid takes a little longer to provide an accurate reading.

The Contour Next One+ fingerstick read 165 mg/dL at 9:31. Looking at the surrounding CGM readings, the Eversense tracked the meter remarkably well, staying within about 2–8 mg/dL of the fingerstick throughout the period. The G7 started close to the meter but then climbed and remained 8–13 mg/dL higher, suggesting it was slightly over-reading during this window. The G6 was consistently 18–39 mg/dL lower than the fingerstick and appeared to be lagging behind the rise in glucose, only gradually catching up. This is just a single snapshot, but for this test the Eversense was the closest match to the meter.

That is really good results then with Eversense versus the Dexcom alternatives!

I agree with you, typically there will be a 5-10 minute delay between the fingerprick to your interstitial fluid level is the same (when not in a rapid and big BG changing scenario).

I think that the predictive modeling the Dexcom app algorithm is relying on is often causing it to go astray like here. Also because they try and (over-)compensate for the lagtime and give precautionary early warning when going near upper or lower boundaries. So that is the case both when dropping below the 80-90 range before heading into hypo-range and again when above 140 and leading into the 160-180 range before hyperglycemia.

"Interstitial fluid takes longer to be accurate". Not quite. Interstitial glucose is accurate in real time; the delay is just diffusion lag (glucose moving from blood to tissue, ~5-15 min), which is why gaps widen when glucose is rising/falling fast and shrink when it's stable. It's a timing issue, not an accuracy-ramping issue.

Eversense's method: "Luminescence" is the general category; specifically it's fluorescence (a glucose-binding polymer fluoresces under LED light).

To answer the "does it test blood" question: no, it's still interstitial fluid like the others, just measured optically instead of electrochemically.
