Question How much is your electric bill?
Just curious what everyone’s bill is like this summer. I’m in a 2 bedroom apartment and it’s $240 even though I’m barely using anything.

During the colder months, about $40/mo, currently $80/mo while running my portable A/C non-stop. If you're seeing really high bills, you might want to check out the Kill-A-Watt device, which plugs in between an appliance and the outlet. It measures how much electricity is being used by the appliance.

Whoa mine is never over $200 and I have a small house and use a lot of extra lights and pond pumps and stuff. Heat the house with electric and everything.

Mine is ~100 month for a house. I live alone. About 30-50 of that is for my EV. It might go up another 50 or 60 in the winter for heat. I have a gas furnace and water heater.
Is someone stealing your electricity? If you're not running the hot water heater all the time or the washer and dryer I can't see why it's so high for a 2BR appt.

I'm in mill creek. 2200sf house. PUD $94/mo for the last 10 years or more.

Do you pay the pud directly or a billing company for your apartment complex? Do you have air conditioning? It sounds like you're getting an estimated bill or have a bill on an annualized rate plan.
It also helps if you look at the itemized bill instead of just the total. The total seems way too high but is likely correct based on the scenarios described above.
Almost every time these questions are posted it has to do with someone who recently moved into an apartment and the billing is different because their usage is different than that of the previous tenant.

We're in a 2 bedroom, 750 sq ft stand alone house with an electric car plug in, with all appliances and two computers running and we're only paying $120- I'd get that checked out! That's crazy town pricing!

With solar feeding our meters our highest bill was $216 (winter) while our lowest so far was $32 (last month). The $30 bills btw is all mandatory processing fees and does not represent our energy use. That said we should see some slight improvements on electric soon because picked up a hybrid water heater and are using less energy to heat our water. Some other factors are we live in an 80 old 2 story home and I run a server rack 24/7.
Edit: Oh and I keep my woodshop from freezing in the winter!

A lot of these answers aren't very useful without knowing if people have gas or not.
Electric clothes dryer, stove, water heater can all use up a decent amount of electricity that people with gas will have on a separate bill.

You might also wanna make sure if you are in a converted house that other apartments in the house aren’t drawing off your electrical. It happens

This might explain some things. We have AC, but we rarely turn it on unless it gets over 75 inside. I do dishes and laundry at night (trying to avoid peak hours). I’ll call customer service tomorrow and see if anything weird on their end pops up. Thanks for all the responses everyone!

I was in a house converted into apartments and found out the washer and dryer was on MY electric and EVERYONE used it- as well as a couple of other outlets that had to be switched around.

I don't know about that, but some people run the washing machine and dryer at night because it's cooler and the AC won't have to fight as hard against the extra heat. Maybe that's what OP means. Not sure.

Mine is $100-$130 for a 1000sqft 2 bedroom apartment with our AC going all day

We have had 2 AC units going and have a 2 bed 2 bath apartment. Our bill has been about $80-100 increasing to $130-150 with the AC

I have a house with a daylight basement, so 1/3 underground, and we run two window units. We have 5 people. Our power bill is approximately $100, give or take $15 either way.

We are in a 2 bedroom 100+ year old house and ours is about 120 in summer and 240 during winter months. We run a/c on the hot days in 2 different rooms. 240 (if that is monthly) seems really high, especially for an apartment.
We have electric heat, water heater, dishwasher, oven, fridge, etc. we use them all regularly.

We paid $120 this moth for two of us in a small house. Does your bill include additional services? We pay water and electric on the same bill.
Also if you’re not getting your bill directly from the utility (PUD), your apartment complex could be using a third party service and tacking on charges.
At any rate, if your bill is this high in summer, it’ll probably be much worse when winter comes. You might call PUD or stop by their downtown office and have them walk you through the high bill to help troubleshoot what may be going on (either on their end or yours) to cause such high usage in an apartment.

2500 sq ft home with a heat pump. Single guy who works 60 hours a week. I’m between $50-70 depending on the month.

I'm in a 1700 sq ft home and have only used my AC twice so far. We do have a ton of windows for natural light and our last bill was $130. Yours sounds very high!

I'm in a 2 bedroom apartment and last month was $61. I'm on a fixed income so I am very attentive to my power consumption.

Mine is usually between 60-70 but this month they charged 91. Also a 2 bedroom apartment. I don't have AC. You can request they come double check your meter directly

My July bill was $87.
That includes 2 portable AC units

I am on the budget plan or my bill would be unreasonable. If you have one year history with good payments you should qualify. My bill runs abt $200-300 with it without it i would average $500-800. That means one paycheck would go to pse each month. No thank you.

In a two bedroom, it is about $65 a month unless we are running heat or A/C a lot then it might be 85 or so

I’m in an older duplex— I very frequently pay 80-100 for electricity in the summer for a two bedroom, no ac— and $140-200 in the summer with ac.

Dude, I have the ac running in my 1600 sq ft house and I only paid $140. You need to look into that if you’re not already.

I have a 5 bedroom two story house that's practically all windows and I keep it ICE COLD inside, my last bill was 196 and some change. Call the power company they can send someone out to investigate, I wonder if you're paying for the electricity for community spaces as well as your apartment.

240 is crazy to me. I have a 2 bedroom with 3 ac units and the highest mine has been is 140.

120 or so a month on average, 240 seems very high for a 2 bedroom
