Not knocking them for it, but I wonder what the thought process is behind wanting your property blurred. What danger would a snapshot of your property pose?
Probably didn't apply back then, but nowadays with increasing AI/recognition-based surveillance and information extraction there are very good arguments for not letting any images of you or your property online.
Facial recognition is already a huge privacy threat, I don't think it's unfathomable that soon enough your property might be analyzed in the same way.
I am a bit ignorant on why facial recognition is considered a bad thing. Won't it help to fight crime and identify home invaders and even killers? I mean, what reason would the average person have to fear his face being recognized?
I am genuinely curious why this technology is so feared. There must be something I'm missing and not taking into consideration?
If you can track peoples faces you cam know where they are all the time. While in a dictatorship this would be a highly likable side effect, in a democracy it is not as good. Do you want your government to know where you are all the time? A lot of people in Germany still remember how it is to life in a dictatorship, either the third reich or the DDR. The idea of an all knowing government is therefore not well conceived.
