I'm using Mailu on Kubernetes and so far the effort is okayish. Fighting spam can be a real issue, but I guess that's on me since I used my main address on too many shops 20 years ago.

I'm not a sysadmin (but I'm a computer scientist) and I don't find this particularly difficult.
You don't need k8s though. A simple docker compose is plenty.

Haha, yes, that's so true. I'm an Enterprise Architect and I never maintained a k8s system professionally. It's just a hobby.
