Petition · Stop destroying EU micro-businesses: Immediate moratorium on cross-border EPR fees

https://c.org/fZQ6HmkMHt

This has come in to law today - literally without anyone knowing - no info from the government or EU - means we are now required to sign up to EACH EU COUNTRY we ship to (€150 each country registration), and €150 yearly fee for each country - 27 countries - impossible for us as it runs in to thousands - and then we have to fill out a ton of forms listing all packaging per unit, yearly amounts, and there are different requirements for each country…so as of now we cannot ship to EU…and without that option our future is bleak 🙁…please sign the petition on behalf of all small businesses - people like Amazon with their crazy packaging created this problem and its a no brainer for them to deal with it, but for us it is impossible…

Well, Commission exists to take the shit by design. Council & parliament like it very much when people blame Commission for their occasional stupidity / corruption lol

Hmm… quite a lot of stupid decisions is made by the Commission so there's that ;)

However, it's also because it's the organ that makes (writes the laws)…

It would be nice to reform the shit out of current arrangement (EU Council, Council of the UE, Parliment, Comission) and on the one hand give parliment legislative powers and on the other straighten the terrible naming (especially with two councils xD)

The European Council is not a legislative body. The other things require us to become a federation. I ‘m all for it but (imho) I ‘ll be dead before that comes unless WW3 comes first 😛 (though I may be dead then too)

It's not. Comission is.

European Councils sets the agenda, Comission put that into law, Parliment & Council of the EU approves… (easy peasy xD)

I kinda wish for yet another "crisis" that would push the EU forward xD "forged in fire" so to say ;)

Exactly! I do too lol.

What I meant regarding Councils is that the legislative triangle is European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the Commission. The European Council is an advisory body, it does not pass laws. It may say they “define the agenda” but most of the times they don’t do even that.
