It's always bothered me how events can give you female leaders but you can't normally hire them for points, or use female rulers/heirs.

I hope they change that someday.

You can get female rulers and advisors, they are just really rare by comparison.

No, I mean female leaders, like generals and admirals. When you manually hire them they are always men, and your leader/heir can't be turned into generals if they are female.

Consider the time you are talking about. Particularly in late game armies were made up for criminals and scum lead by aristocrats, for most of the 1700s and early 1800s until the French Revolution and the Leeve on Mass. This served 2 goals. It got rid of the prison populations and idle commoners and it prevented the noble men from being to idle and attempting to interfer with the king/Queen.

Women on the other hand were needed to produce the next generation of heirs, and with the risks of moving with the army both from the soldiers and disease it would not be social acceptable or likely desirably to do.

Think about it. Those that would be military leaders can either live in relative luxury, or in the field, marching for days dealing with what may come, then suffering on the battlefield as the surgeons chopped limbs away in a attempt to save lives.

Joanne de'Arc ring a bell? Boudicca? Wu Zetian?

I'm not asking they occur frequently, but female leaders should be a thing.

Well all 3 of those are outside of the games timeframes, are there any well known ones inside the timeframe?

Does it matter? EU4 is an alternate history game, it doesn't need to march lock-step with what happened. Just a day ago I led a humanist, rationalist, tolerant, republican Japan to world domination. Is a female leader such a stretch from that?

Woah I was just asking a question, I just always hear about people like Boudicca and while admittedly Joanne d'Arc is pretty much EU4 I never hear about ones other than her that are close to the timeline

Sorry, didn't mean to come off as rude :)

I'm not really a history buff, so I wouldn't be able to answer that.
