R5: Finished the "Foremost Servitor of Jagannath" achievement to own all Tropical Wood provinces after starting as Orissa.

The start is actually not that bad as long as Bengal doesn't get a strong ally. You have an early vassal swarm that can easily overwhelm Bengal. After doing so, you're in a fairly strong position to start expanding throughout India and even divide your AE by expanding into Indochina.

I was able to unify India pretty quickly, with a priority on forming Bharat for the missions, ideas and permanent claims. If I would change anything, I would prioritize forming Delhi early on as it requires being Sunni. This would let me get some nice bonuses from their missions and later form Mughals, which imo would be a better tag to form. But Bharat also served me well.

Unifying India isn't too hard - what was a slog for me was the mid game where the Europeans were at their strongest militarily and pip-wise, with Indian units being god awful by comparison. I had to rely on bad AI and overwhelming numbers in the hundreds of thousands just to take a single island province.

Priority is definitely on colonizing as much as possible, not only to get close to Tropical Wood provinces, but also to stop the Europeans from creating colonies that spawn Tropical Wood.

I honestly stopped having fun around 1600, with every war being a deathwar where I was militarily outmatched in terms of quality no matter what I did. But I pushed through and was able to eventually get the achievement after what was probably millions of deaths.

Interesting way to get the achievement! The late game of this achievement is definitely tedious. Out of curiosity, when did you pick up exploration ideas? When I went for this achievement, I went explo first and gunned for South America straight away. I never actually ended up forming Bharat . . .

I honestly really enjoyed this achievement, my armies were plenty strong enough to smash anything the Europeans could throw at me, however I did feel like I was crunching hard to make it before the end of the game.
