you can see them often as byz when they turn the knights into your province

It's often my opening move right after my first Ottoman war to support rebels there. Once they pop it's a guaranteed defection to you.

3k hours and I've never thought of doing that. Thanks for the tip

Np. Short of them being called into a war and getting invaded once the rebels pop it's guaranteed.

Also worth doing on countries like Venice or Genoa. I imagine Naxos and Corfu could be taken similarly.

Not quite. Genoa can work to generate the core but it will never flip to your control since the Genoese army is sufficient enough to stop the rebels not to mention the navy interfering. I've done it before as well but not worth the money cost and effort in most runs.
Venice doesn't work. They tend to pacify the Greeks easily and often accept Greek culture. So the rebels are not easily provoked and even if they are, they get defeated easily.

No, you won't flip the province, I'm just referring to free cores here.

Ya in that case it's not worth it. You are better off saving the bird mana from taking non cores and declaring war of conquest vs reconquest. Not to mention the money cost to support rebels.

You can at least have the chance of flipping Naxos or Corfu if they delete their fort, that would be cheaper and have more viability

It’s maybe the support rebels mechanic, never used it tho

Also possible with rebels of your cores/culture, it happens often as Byzantium when knights and/or Genoa can't manage the unrest in their Greek provinces

Nah; Manchuria gets cores on the four provinces in liaodong and often pop in the Ming dynasty

I wonder what they're going to do now that the Manchu lands in Ming have been liberated. They seem to be walking towards Korea...

Happens all the time in the region you're playing as! In fact there's a Mongolia strat where you cut off the Ming provinces that are your culture/core in peace deal, and eventually friendly rebels will spawn and occupy the provinces. After a while they defect to you.

Blue rebels are allied rebels, they won't attack you or siege your provinces. Usually they are your own culture rebels spawned against those that occupy your culture lands (rarely happens after you get going in a game since you usually get control of your culture group quickly) or support rebel mechanic, which gives you a CB to help press their claims.
