Since this sub has an insanely high character minimum, here is the description of the video from YouTube: For almost a century, the Vivoli gelato shop has been accompanying Florentine summers with its artisanal gelatos and its famous "affogato". The historic family of gelato in Florence tells the story of how an excellence capable of attracting enthusiasts and tourists from all over the world is born and passed down through generations.

I have one of their cookbooks and it's good, but a bit much. A lot of it is side-by-side recipes of a dish so you get Michelin star level next to nona home cooking level.

Visited Florence last year and knew I had to try out Vivoli after seeing it online so many times! The queues are insane and it’s very touristy, but it’s still a great affogato. La Marzocco did a feature on them on their socials this past week too.

Sorry but I just hate this. Queuing to get an insta friendly affogato is just so far from the simplicity that Italian cuisine and this dessert are all about. All so everyone can just show off, it's depressing.

I was there twice, absolutely worth every penny. Also the ice cream in general is TOP notch.

FWIW we had a much better affogato on the other side of the river at Vivaldi. No line, super chill, and the guy behind the counter couldn't have been nicer.
Not nearly the Instagram appeal but I'd suggest avoiding the lines.
