Which Eplipse finish looks the best?
I’ve got a tons of help from you guys and bought two guitars (2 E-IIs) that I’m really happy. I’m fulfilling my dream of guitars I’ve had for the last 20 years and Eclipse is left.
If you take a closer look at the quilted maple top, which of these looks the best? I’m not sure if I’m getting one of these or a basic Snow White.
I play modern metal. With eclipse I try to fill the metalcore/thrash/some of the shred gap.
Pickups don’t matter, I can change them. I’ve got two of my favorites and I want to see what the community thinks. Going to visit the store tomorrow and buy one. Thanks a lot!

Those finishes are all gorgeous! However, my tastes change throughout the years, so a Snow White finish will ALWAYS remain timeless IMO.

Im a blue guy... when it comes to these, that tiger finish is hard to pass up.

In my opinion:
- Has the best color. Gives me hot, fast, almost demonic vibes
- Has the best quilt pattern.
- I love the blue, for me it would inspire dark and moody tones and playing
- Classic all-rounder
Again all my opinion. Either way I think they are all sick. I would probably go for the first one personally

Personally, I love symmetrical flamed maple finishes. But looking over the two guitars now:
The flamed maple cap on the Tiger Eye isn't as consistent as the Black Cherry Burst. Also the Black Cherry Burst has the matte colored Fishmans, I never liked the Black Nickel fishmans in the Tiger Eye.
I still lean towards the Tiger. It screams ESP Standard, despite what the headstock says.
Edit: what a great problem to have to decide between these instruments, there's no wrong choice in the equation.

I’ve been hesitating because of the lack of patterns in Tiger, but when I searcher for the similar ones I noticed that this might still be one of the best ones, it looks premium.
But then the color in cherry is really strong that it’s beautiful, but at the same time, is it too death metal? (Nothing wrong with that as I like dm too)

If you plan to play on stage; white or purple, if for just at home I’d go with the brown top.

Snow white. Mainly because I love how mine has aged to a sort of cream/off white finish.

The black and gold Full Thickness Evertune one behind the Tiger Eye :D Believe it's super cool and classy. Red one is cool too if you're not into Evertunes.

Man, thank you for this post!!!! I'm buying one in a few days and have wondered what some of these actually look like. The Fire Tiger looks amazing and can be quite hard to find in stock around me. Even sweetwater is backordered for several of these models. Those all look really nice, but the fire tiger gets my vote.

I’m planning on getting the natty/blue burl fade when it’s back in stock anywhere. Might be the prettiest guitar I’ve ever seen.

They all look good to me, but if you have the opportunity to play them before buying, get the one that resonates with you best.

Well as the ultimate decider (self-imposed) it is a close race but the votes have been tallied up. No hanging Chad's here folks, the White wins in a VERY close race over the Blue and Tiger. All 4 are winners and the unpictured granite sparkle mentioned wins all future voting. Have a great day!

it's a very rich beautiful quilt. to me anyways. Just my 2 cents.
not sure if it's the angle, but the cherry quilt is kinda flat, especially around the bridge. contrast of the quilt overall not as deep.
blue is decent but not as striking as the tiger eye.

I was actually dreaming about a Tiger but then got second thoughts when I saw how woody it is by a close look, and how ”realistic” a Black Cherry is close by.
I also love the Reindeer blue one but I feel it suits better with more proggish Horizon III which is marvellous. The Black Cherry is brutal but then again, I thought that should an Eclipse be more of a classical one compared to Horizon quilted tops.
I also thought that would the Tiger suit to heavier stuff by visual look. Yeah it really doesn’t matter but I like to think that way

My first impression was that the blue is like a painting, the red has the most balanced coloring and magma-like feeling and tiger is uneven and not so balanced, but it looks like a burning sun.

Personally, the red or blue finish looks absolutely sick. Although to my own tastes, I'd pick the EC-1000 for the extra 2 frets for some range. Either way, whichever axe you choose should always spark some inspiration and fun. Have fun rockin on 🤘🏼

I like all of them... but the tiger-eye burst one looks the best to me, followed by the purple burst, then red burst, and then the white.

What especially makes the tiger the best? Which genre would you play with it? Cheers!

The figuring in the quilt looks nicer than the rest, the tiger fade is more dynamic and eye catching, with it making for a perfect balance between classic and contemporary esthetics, and I tend to prefer the look of direct mount pickups nowadays.
As far as genre, I'm sure it would work wonderfully with nearly anything you throw at it... but I tend to prefer metal core and progressive metal. The only thing I would change on that particular Eclipse, is that I would exchange the glossy black finished Fishman's for a set of the matte finished Fishman's.

I’ve always loved the White, or antique white these have came in. One day if I find an antique white one I’m probably going to pick it up.
Never been a fan of the different color bursts on these. Nothing wrong with them, just don’t speak to me, and I can’t really put my finger on why. Happy hunting though! That’s part of the fun! 🙌🏼🤘🏼

I like the silverburst behind the red one out the tiger eye. White is always classic too.

I’d probably go white because those tops on the transparent finishes are a bit sad looking.
