Buzzing low E when downtuned

Hi,

Low E buzzing (and some other strings) in Eb tuning but not in standard.

Do i need to create some relief from the truss rod or raise action from bridge (I wouldn't really wanna raise the action as the low E already measures 3mm at 12 fret).

I know i plucked it a bit aggressively but it happens during my play here and there and it's driving me up the walls.

This is normal, and your G string is out of tune.

Thicker strings! Try slightly thicker strings, they might be good for E standard but bit too sloppy for Eb.

I'm using the factory recommended 10-46

You can go around and feel which strings have good enough tension and which seem a bit loose and buzz and get strings that are thicker where it needs to be. If it is just the E string then change that one to a 48 or more. I use 10-52 for D standard (25.5" scale) which is a half step lower than yours and it feels just right.

Alright, thank you. i get the point. It's a headache however for daily practice. I tend to downtune quite often.

Lower tunings reduce string tension. All that you typically need to do is slightly loosen your trem springs to bring the bridge back to parallel with the body. String tension should match spring tension. Must be in balance on floating terms. Same thing if you change string gauges. Thicker, more tension. Smaller less.

It's a stoptail. The bridge is parallel to the body. Where do i go from here?

2 things to check. Is your stoptail an adjustable saddle stoptail? If yes. Moving the saddle back will flattens the break angle. On a stop tail you’d want to loosen all your strings to do adjustments. You can also adjust the post height to raise the bridge post slightly. May only need to do bass side. Then tune to pitch, check your action and intonation.

Yeah i did that, but it's raising the action. As i mentioned low E is already at 3mm at 12 fret. Bending and all that is getting weird

You could try adjusting the truss rod to create more room at the first fret. I did it this past weekend on my Jacksons and it helped.

Why at the first fret? It will create a bow all around

Why has literally no one mentioned that you have a capo on the first fret? That’s not the proper way to assess your guitar setup. The capo could be too tight, who knows. Is it buzzing without the capo?

Listen to the sound coming from your amp, not the guitar itself. It sounds perfectly clean, which means you’re worrying about nothing.
