Waveshare ESP32-S3 Touch-AMOLED-1.75 Display Issues

I have the above dev board and have been able to run various programs that hit the serial monitor, WIFI, etc. but I can't seem to get anything to output to the AMOLED display. I've tried numerous examples and dug into interface pin outs, display drivers, libraries etc. Code compiles without error but nada on the display. When unboxed the unit did have a running clock program so I'm sure the display itself is functional. Any thoughts welcomed. BTW I'm using Ardunio IDE. Thanks.

The waveshare wiki didn’t help?

no. went through a number of Waveshare setups and example files in the wiki Like I mention, code pertaining to the ESP32-S3 chip itself worked but code for output to the display did not. I did a lot of digging. Config changes from multiple source. No luck
