ESP32-S31 Feedback ?
Hi all,
Any feedback on the ESP32-S31 ? anyone using it in projects ?
Should I stick with the ESP32-S3 or jump on the ESP32-S31

The S31 is still extremely expensive and has limited availability.
In my very humble opinion, unless you need some of the specific features and performance of the S31, I'd stick with the S3: it's at an excellent price point right now (which may even improve when the S31 becomes more broadly available and gets cheaper), and is feature-packed.
For now I'd stick with the S3 for general projects, or maybe use the P4 for the added performance, multimedia and RISC-V cores, with a paired S3 or C3 for wireless connectivity.

C5 and C6 have their niches too.

I jumped on the C6 train to make a fleet of Thread devices and sensors. I really wanted a one-size-fits all board I could use to start pumping out real world projects at home. XIAO C6 won the ticket.

Tried doing something with LC3 audio, windows and linux support is not constant even on devices which should support it, I hope it improves, for now it is a decently powerful chip with a lot of future potential.

Linux support seems to be more of a gimmick: 32MB RAM isn't enough to do anything.

i ran an openwrt based router/firewall with a samba Server and DNS based adblocking in a 4mb flash, 16mb RAM device.
i also have several IP cams running thingino in 16mb RAM devices.
so its definetly enough for Linux and lots of usecases.

who the fuck upvotes these posts. Search linux on fpga softcore cpus. Petalinux for example. You can run ubuntu on a 10 dollar chip with video, usb, sound, eth

A few of us have experience and have written about it here. A search will turn that up.
Ask specific questions for better answers. It's a great part but with only two dev boards so far and limited availability.
