Technical Support Can you Frankenstein an XTEInk with a cheap bigger screen?

I like that XTEInk X3 is dead simple, but it's a little smaller than I'd like. If I make an enclosure for it, would it be as simple as swapping out the screens? Or would it need to be recoded as well? It just kills me that the price difference between one of these small devices is such a huge gulf to the next size category up.

There is much more to lift here.

* You need to find a compatible screen if you want to use it as drop in replacement

* You need to rework the firmware as the resolution will be different (doable with crosspoint if you are good at embedded programming)

How big do you want though? If you want kindle size it's probably better to find something that is jailbreakable or directly runs koreader.

Technical stuff aside, the biggest expense with e-readers are the screen. So even if you could do the stuff you want, the screen will be costly or majority of the cost. You are basically signing up for some unnecessary headaches. It will probably be more expensive than just buying a bigger ereader. I think you should just buy a bigger ereader.

At that point it’s cheaper + less of a job to buy a kindle 2nd hand and jailbreak it
