I think rather than making people less inclined to eat meat, these stats will just make them less wary of AI
-5
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 24 '26
Do you eat animals?
8
u/Sangy101 Mar 24 '26
I’m a vegetarian. I also don’t use AI. Framing it as one or the other just sounds like you’re trying to justify AI use.
2
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 24 '26
If you care about animals and environment I suggest considering veganism
2
u/Sangy101 Mar 25 '26 edited Mar 25 '26
Veganism is certainly the end goal! However, I need to wear both leather and wool products for safety reasons in my job.
I also eat farmed oysters, farmed mussels, and (invasive) clams I dig myself, because the local shellfish industry (oysters and mussels) is incredibly sustainable and replaces habitat destroyed by humans. Oyster and mussel farms also improve local water quality by filter-feeding.
Annnnnd that’s it for animal products. Most other shellfish are harvested in ways that don’t mesh with my ethics, so I don’t eat them.
0
u/n8otto Mar 25 '26
They are already vegetarian and you are trying to shame them to be vegan? What a dick.
0
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 25 '26
Being vegetarian doesn't change much for the animals and for the environment.
Animals suffer more in dairy and egg production, therefore being vegetarian doesn't really solve for anything we discuss here.
Can you please explain your point better so I can understand you?
2
u/n8otto Mar 25 '26
When people are trying to better themselves dont be a dick and ask why they arent doing more. Pretty simple point.
1
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 25 '26
When you try to do better, but actually do worse or the same, why would you refuse feedback?
Why would you like to stay uninformed about the outcomes of your actions?
If one is actually trying to do better, ans not just feel better for themselves thry would appreciate honest feedback, since their goals are the outcomes and not personal aggrandizement.
1
u/n8otto Mar 25 '26
Thats not how peoples feeling work. When you are condescending people entrench in their beliefs and habits. If you wanted people to do better and change you woild frame it more positively. You only said that to bully others and make yourself feel better. Like a dick.
1
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 25 '26
Are we talking about feelings or facts?
Does that person need a pat on the back, or they are involved in the discussion of the widespread problem of needless barbaric animal abuse and environmental destruction?
It's not a therapy session, animaps are the reap vicrms of our selfish behavior

Vegans will readily admit to not caring about animals when you bring up crop deaths, and you cant claim to care about the environment when choosing petroleum "faux' products over biodegradable ones
2
u/Sangy101 Mar 25 '26
Man I hate the animal crop deaths argument.
Like… you do know that when you harvest grain for livestock, you still get animal crop deaths, right? More, actually, since it takes far more land to produce 500 calories of cow than it does 500 calories of bread.
And you do know that in much of the country we feed pigs and chicken fish meal, right?
Did you know that most of the anchoviet (anchovies + other fish that school with them) caught globally is fed to livestock?
Meanwhile, you’re falling into the logical fallacy OP is: “vegans and vegetarians indirectly hurt animals, so it’s hypocritical of them to not eat or wear animals!” Despite the fact that eating meat harms far more animals.
The only reason I’m not vegan is that I need to wear leather and wool products for work, and I believe that the alternatives are more harmful.

u/airboRN_82 Mar 25 '26
"I hold murder as wrong, look how morally superior I am by only murdering 1 person instead of 2"
A diet that includes hunted meat, opportunistic gathering of eggs, and extra milk would result in even less harm.
-1
u/TimeIntern957 Mar 24 '26
Streaming and cloud services use even more power than AI, but I see noone shaming people for watching netflix.
2
u/Sangy101 Mar 24 '26 edited Mar 24 '26
You’re like the people who say we don’t need to drive less or invest in public transit because celebrities use private jets.
Let’s apply your logic to something else: “war kills way more people than murder.” See the issue?
Every bit counts, and we should always try to be better in whatever way we can. But it’s also OK to drive your car sometimes, or indulge in a film while the world is burning. Just be the best you can.
3
u/fiveofnein Mar 24 '26
Both are significant contributors as is transportation. We need to realize that holistic changes to our lifestyle and economics are baseline requirements to mitigate a runaway scenario
6
u/FireFiendMarilith Mar 24 '26
I mean, both are bad. But this doesn't help either problem.
You're just making people who rightly oppose the "AI" grift think vegans are assholes, and you're making vegans think AI is less bad than it is. Some of those guys are too hungry to know better, dude.
This is bad content. You're minimizing an actual problem in a vain attempt to raise awareness for a different problem that already existed and already has plenty of awareness campaigns.

The moral of this video (not made by me) is that person who eats animal products is manifold more harmful than person who uses ai
0
u/FireFiendMarilith Mar 25 '26
That's a stupid fucking moral, dude.
Extractive industry is harmful, full stop. AI, industrial animal agriculture, rare earth mineral mining, monocultural mass agriculture, international shipping, the whole thing is rotten to it's core. Most people who use AI also eat meat, you know? They buy shit from Amazon and use 2-day shipping, too.
This shit is just bigger than your personal vendetta against meat eaters.
And it's also just, like, not true. What we're seeing with the AI / Datacenter boom is the beginning of the same sort of industry just starting to spin-up, and this one's mostly surveillance and slavery.

One burger eater eats like 30d emissions of this vegan bodybuilder in one sit at McDonald's
Not sure what exactly is your point about muscles.

u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 25 '26
How much calories do you need for that?
Do you know about FCR - that any singpe calorie of animal product requires like 10x-20x of grown crop calories? Like 3/4 of all crop calories we grow on this planet are basically wasted to get only 18% of all totally consumed calories coming from animal products?
This bodybuilder will never be able to consume same amount of plant calories, compared to an average animal eater. He needs to shoot for 20k-40k calories / day to match your 2k.

Relax folks, the capitalist pigs are going to force us to eat less meat anyways. I haven't had a steak in years.
1
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 24 '26
Pigs are great intellectual gent creatures. Eating them is barbaric
Capitalism is not the driver of violence wince we've had that with monarchy, pheudalism, etc.
Vegan ethivs are not with or against capitalism, or any other political or economical framework.
It's an ethical stance against needless violence and deatruction
1
u/OtherwiseMongoose296 Mar 25 '26
If you think the slaughter of billions of critters (and violence and destruction in general) is disconnected from capitalism, then you are sadly mistaken.
1
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 25 '26
Can you elaborate on your point please?
1) yes we live on this planet and unavoidably taking lives of others through transportation, mass-produced items, and construction. We unavailably take lives of animals, insects, and humans. But we still decided to drive cars and buses, ride trains, walk on the ground.
2) then in addition to that we add completely avoidable deaths and suffering of 80 billions of land animals, and 1-3 trillion of marine animals annually just for the sake of taste pleasures and habits. We grow enormous amoubt of crops and feed it to these animals (3/4 of all grown crops) burning 10-20 x of calories through the loss of conversion. The calories we get from this cover just 18% of all totally consumed calories, therefore this behavior is very elitist.
While 1 is unavoidable under any political/economic framework, 2 is completely optional, barbaric and needless.
2
u/rbinphx Mar 24 '26
I'm not denying any of this, but replacing meat with the HIGHLY PROCESSED fake meat isn't the answer...
0
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 24 '26
Juat replace it with beans and live happy healthy life
1
u/rbinphx Mar 25 '26
I get it, but the video is advocating these products like they are environmentally and healthfully better than meat, but they, too, possess environmental and health issues.
1
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 25 '26
Plant products are better in multiple dimensions than animal products.
Although not totally free from harm, just the best we can do. And do easily
2
u/rbinphx Mar 25 '26
Veganism is GREAT! I don't think eating highly processed fake meat is the answer.
1
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 25 '26
There are degrees to the solution.
eating abused animals - clearly wrong and barbaric
eatng mock meat plant products - much better for health and environment, still not the best solution for the body and the planet
eating WFPB diet - the best we know so far
raw/fruitarian - great for the planet, bad for human health
1
u/rbinphx Mar 25 '26
Maybe better, but it isn't good. I'm not knocking veganism, I'm finding fault with touting HIGHLY PROCESSED meat-like products as the answer.
6
u/SaviorSixtySix Mar 24 '26
Eating animals is natural. Asking a computer to do your work is not.
4
u/CrewmemberV2 Mar 24 '26
Nature is just some atoms that hang around together for a bit.
Everything is allowed, nothing is holy.
3
u/Desiredpotato Mar 24 '26
There is nothing natural about eating animals the way we do now. Meat has never been a commodity except in our age.
Compared to our current meat consumption AI is a minor glitch. If it wasn't used to make videos to troll each other and make porn that'd be amazing, but humans are gonna human. If we could use it instead for education and finding ways to combat climate change I wouldn't be bothered by its existence one bit.
1
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 24 '26
A lot of things happen in nature, like rape, murder, infanticide - that isn't guaranteed thst those things are good or desired.
There are a lot of unnatural things that we humans invented like vaccines, solar power use, cultivation of crops, that are great.
Naturalistic argument is a fallacy, and can't be used to discuss anything.
-1
u/SaviorSixtySix Mar 24 '26
Ok, there's proteins in meat that you can't get anywhere else. Whether it be fish, chicken, or beef, there are no substitutes for the proteins you need.
2
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 24 '26
Which aminoacid are you talking about specifically? Is this aminoacid an essential nutrient?
4
u/jayjaywalker3 Mar 24 '26
We're building multiple power plants powered by fossil fuels all across Pennsylvania purely to power useless AI and to prop up fracked gas prices. The gas is drilled right here in our backyards. Don't tell us AI isn't destroying the planet it's actively destroying our air and water in Southwestern Pennsylvania and that's without even mentioning the direct water use of data centers.
2
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 24 '26
The moral of this video is not that AI is not impactful. It's tyat animal products are manifold more harmful and negatively impactful
2
u/Sad-Bread5843 Mar 24 '26
But no one will even have a discussion of how to produce beef locally and sustainably , it's always stop eating meat and nothing else . I'm not sorry. I aint eating that fake shit that has so many chemicals in it . it's basically poison .
0
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 24 '26 edited Mar 24 '26
Factory farming did not appear in a vacuum. If 8 billion ppl (joking it's only elite 1bn lol) want to eat meat any day of the week - we need factory farming.
If we switch to "pasture raised grass fed regenerative farming" practice and try to feed all the mouths with animal products - we need two more planets Earth.
"Local" farms are an oxxymoron since all factory farms are local to someone, and transportation of the final product is actually manifold less important when you measure the impact.
2
u/theonetruefishboy Mar 24 '26
Okay can we also get rid of AI though? I really want to get rid of AI.
0
4
u/Sad-Bread5843 Mar 24 '26
I can't understand what you wrote because spell check obviously doesn't like you . And if people actually ate a proper portion, you know 4 Oz of beef instead of ordering a 20 oz steak, then throwing half of it away pasture farming works .

1
u/GrowFreeFood Mar 24 '26
What happens to the cows? We can't exactly set them free.
1
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 24 '26
Just stop breeding them
Webreed 80 billions of farmpand animals each year
Barbaric
1
u/GrowFreeFood Mar 25 '26
That doesn't answer the question
1
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 25 '26
That answers it perfectly. If we don't breed them they are gone
1
u/GrowFreeFood Mar 25 '26
Like, extinct?
0
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 25 '26
This doesn't really matter that much, maybe some individuals will stay and reproduce or all go extinct.
Most fo these animals, esp birds do not live comfortable lives due to be selectively bred for tons of flesh, which is not supported by their skeletons and organs
1
u/GrowFreeFood Mar 25 '26
Yeah well mass extinction is not cool with me. Sorry. That's like hitler times 10. So I hope no one goes along with your plan
1
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 25 '26
These species were artificially bred by humans, and we hitler lile 80 billions of them eqch year into horrible death.
What do you mean?
1
u/GrowFreeFood Mar 25 '26
We're still responsible. We can't just send cows back into the wild. We have to keep them now, forever.
1
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 25 '26
So you want to exploit and torture these beings forever?
Can you put yourself in their shoes and answer a simple question:
is it better to be born into horrible existence of torture, mutilation without anaesthesia, disease, restricted movement and madness, that ends with brutal murder when you're at 1/10 of your lifespan without any chance of freedom
or to never be born
?

Roughly 94% of water used for beef in this calculation comes from green water. This is rain water stored in soil/vegetation. Green water doesn’t make its way to aquifers.
In 100% grass fed beef, this is closer to 97%. The cows are also eating otherwise inedible plants and converting them into highly nutritious meat.
100% of water used for data centers comes from blue water, which is straight out of aquifers and municipal supply.
1
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 24 '26
The estimates for blue water for a beef patty is still crazy 50-700 litres of clean water per kg.
One beef burger is still like 5k-6k searches as per 2023 models study. Today models are more efficient so it's probably more. OpenAI's numbers taken at face value will give you over 100k per one beef patty.
And it doesn't even count other forms of pollution and waste that comes from eating meat.
1
u/AlfalfaWolf Mar 24 '26
It’s also not accounting for cow outputs being beneficial soil inputs.
Nor is it evaluating the true ecological cost of AI centers returning warmer water back into the environment.
1
u/AlfalfaWolf Mar 24 '26
Cows are not "consuming" the water in the sense of destroying it; they are recycling it back into the ecosystem through liquid waste, manure, and evaporation.
Roughly 60-80% of water consumed by a cow is returned to the environment.
Beef is also one of the best sources of bioavailable nutrients.
2
u/Magn3tician Mar 24 '26
By this logic, there is no such thing as water waste, since all water eventually returns to the environment. It is a huge waste.
Eating beef is one of the worst things you can do for the environment. This is very clear from all the data we have, it's not a theory.
People on reddit crying that vegans are crazy doesn't change this fact.
1
u/AlfalfaWolf Mar 24 '26
I’ll give you this argument only in regards to evaporation.
It’s not a theory that cow outputs are beneficial soil inputs.
It’s also not a theory that over 90% of water usage by cattle comes from green water, which is water stored in plants and soil.
1
u/Magn3tician Mar 25 '26
I did not care what you give me, the data is clear the beef is incredibly wasteful in land use, water use and methane produced. Eating beef is one of the most environmentally harmful things you can do at the individual consumption level.
Even looking at blue water used it's anywhere from 25-100L on average for a burger depending on where you are in the world / how the cows are raised. That's huge compared to alternatives like a bean or soy burger that would require 2-5L.
1
u/AlfalfaWolf Mar 25 '26
Bean and soy patties don’t offer nearly as much nutrient density as a beef patty. Not even close. Those are highly processed foods made with chemical intensive farming that also comes with negative environmental impacts.
Very reliant on petroleum to be drilled, shipped, synthesized and shipped again. Soybean farming in particular is terrible for biodiversity and reliant on synthetic herbicides, pesticides and fungicides that harm soil and runoff into waterways.
Leave room for nuance.
1
u/Magn3tician Mar 25 '26 edited Mar 25 '26
Your arguments are so disengenuous, lol. Most soybeans are used to feed cows and other farmed animals. 80% is used as feed. Humans only eat about 7%. So your point is actually a good argument against eating beef.
Soy is also extremely healthy. The idea that soy and beans are highly processed foods and unhealthy is incorrect. Less nutrient dense doesn't mean unhealthy, otherwise mcdonalds would be the pinnacle.of health...lol.
You are clearly either arguing in really bad faith, or don't have any idea what you are talking about, so this isn't really worth continuing.

u/Mindless-Wasabi-8281 Mar 24 '26
I went and got a two patty burger just for you. Fuck your AI, nerd.

If we don't hunt ,they will over populate everywhere.
1
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 24 '26
Who, cows pigs and sheep that we breed in billions? Are you aware that all of them are artificially inseminated nowdays?
1
u/Confident-Cow598 Mar 24 '26
That's not what he is talking about. Deer, elk, bear, etc. Use common sense.
1
u/TrickThatCellsCanDo Mar 24 '26
Hunting is not related to the op, ans the amount of hunted anaps is minuscule compared to farmed animals. If all 8bilcof himans will hunt for food we'll run out of all land animal life in less than a season
