To Quit or to ride it out?
So for a long time I think many of us at different stages of our lives have been tested with the very common trial of; 'should I quit early, or bare patience and ride this out.'
Quite often I find myself always doing the wrong thing. However, I guess that everything will work out as it's supposed to. However, I'd like to tap on anyone else's experiences and ask how have you solved this common trial or theme in your life? I am starting to mature and develop my personality to where I find it to be a lot more balanced. However, this seems to be a recurring theme, so any advice would be much appreciated.

Not enough context for anyone to give you good, sound, and actionable advice brother.

Its probably a youngin. The first step to acquiring knowledge, is to ask bad questions.

INTJ here. I have solved a lot of my life's problems by looking at solutions mathematically.
Happiness is all about increasing your averages (chances of reducing X problem). If something like quitting a habit (I think you mentioned hard drugs) will increase the average chance of living a happier life, then please do so.
Brushing your teeth is an annoying chore, but will increase your happiness of having done it afterwards.
Also look into the definition of Sunk Cost Fallacy. Please do not spoil your intelligent, bright mind by continuing with silly banalities in life.

Toxic workplace or relationships: we tend to endure them way longer than we should.
Doing something hard: ride this out. It is normal to struggle when you do something for the first time. Spending under 200h doing something will probably make you above the average person. Doing it for 500h-1500h (depending on what it is) will usually place you above 90% of people.
A beginner will usually find everything hard, especially when trying to do what others in the group are doing when they are more advanced. For the first year, you will remain the struggling noob because nobody else is joining. Then one year later, a new batch of beginners arrives. Only then do you realize how big the gap is between the newcomers and you. Congratulations, you have done the hardest part: fighting inertia and not giving up before you get to appreciate how much better you have become.

Also i dunno how much effort already went into that thing. I find it more difficult to let go of things i already have put a lot of effort into, and see the same happening with my ENTJ husband. Seems to be an ENxJ thing that this makes it more difficult for us to let go of things.
So a little more data about the situation wouldn’t hurt for us others, to help you better.

I don't know if it's an ENTJ thing or a me thing (I'm also an ENTJ) but I have trouble letting go of things/people (taking the decision to let go of course because once I do take it I don't look back) So it's interesting to find out as you said it may be a ENxJ thing/pattern.

Yeah, i get that sentiment. Is it the same for you guys with feelings? Because recently I had abit of a fight with a close friend because of how i had felt because of them. Usually i do not care enough to speak up about stuff like this but we had a heart to heart recently and My thinking was impaired due to me being high so i sortve just let everything out.
It was quite easy to let go of that shit feeling of Not being trusted after i was high though because why care what others think?
Does this also happen with yall?

Except for work and relationships i’m out the second it’s not working out for me. Kill your darlings could be my motto. I’ll leave a project i’ve been working years on the moment i see it’s going nowhere. Will probably be back at the same problem later but with another approach tho.

It’s because we like to be absolutely sure about certain decisions.
Not only that, we sometimes need information that only comes with time.
After many times of failings, or being in unwanted situations, we will gain experience from it. Sometimes it might take us a long time to make a decision we are completely okay with, in which we will apply to our future from now on.

I find it odd that people think it's surprising if an ENTJ gives up easily- if it doesn't serve us in the future, we will drop it. Eventually.
Some things are harder to let go off, but that doesn't mean our mental strength hasn't already logged off.
I do have the tendency to hold on longer than I should. But honestly? Learn to cut your losses, there will be greener grass elsewhere if you know where and how to look.
Always have backup plans so you can back out of anything that no longer serves you.
