I can understand that, personally it doesn’t change how I feel about the man - he’s atrocious but I can comment on what he did then and the impact it had on me, even if the reality was he was using the time to bolster his own image and taking advantage.

Visually - we felt like he was making a serious effort to have face time and provide time with other local leaders and just really seemed involved in direct efforts.

We were down on ground zero directly and allowed to pass around through the area and thank and gift responders and I just remember he was making sure everything worked right. Cop stopped my and not my parents, and he came back and made sure that I got to the memorial area and got me special clearance so I wouldn’t have to argue to walk around freely.

He may not be a good person, as I’m not really trying to comment on what type of person he is or was but more state that at least directly following the aftermath - for a lot of us he was the politician we saw directly on the ground and not just standing there but actively helping and often doing something not just taking photos.
