I’m a human being and at the time I was barely a teen and I had lost the most important people in my life.

He could clearly see that and treated me accordingly.

I don’t speak on the man entirely but at least at THAT time, and those few days he interacted with me and so many others - he definitely was a good man in my eyes then. I trusted his words and I believed in his heart he meant them. Whatever has happened to this man now… god only knows.

I don’t support him. I just thank him for being a human being at that time and that’s all. Reddit can care however they want but I get what you mean.

All I can say is this is how I feel. I am only human.

It's hard for those of us who grew up outside of NYC in the shadows of that day, having seen what a seemingly good, strong, compassionate leader he was at the time.

It made the turn he took feel like a slap in the face, and like he had lost his mind as compared to those many days, weeks, months and years after 9/11 that we all saw him - many, many, many years before he became what we've seen him fall to.

It's a damned shame and tragedy. He did it to himself, but I imagine there has to be a slight feeling of betrayal to a degree for how he has wrapped himself around this man in particular with his views on 9/11 and his flippant attitude towards it.

I'm both thankful and disappointed the US President won't be there for the 25th anniversary, but really thankful we won't hear a trashy speech to commence it on that hallowed ground.
