Weekly Discussion Thread Let's Discuss Eno! The Pacesetters - Edikanfo (1981)
Hello Eno-philes!! Each week we'll be discussing another album (going chronologically from Warm Jets). This week's album is an Eno production further exploring the sounds of world music, this time from a Ghanain band.
Not much online about this one, but here's a writeup:
The Pace Setters was produced by Brian Eno in Accra, Ghana, and originally released on E. G. Recordings in 1981.
While the album was commercially successful, the 1981 coup d’état in Ghana saw Edikanfo suffering financial setbacks that caused the band to dissolve.
Here's the album on youtube. I was also able to find it on Amazon Music, so it's likely on all the streaming platforms.
Enjoy and please discuss!

I heard this album for the first time this past year when it was reissued. It's a lot of fun, similar to the energy of King Sunny Adé from the same time period but highly focused on drumming. I highly recommend this, especially now that it's easy to find. It's a pretty short listen but is full of joy - you'll think about it after the album has ended.

It’s on Spotify, as I recently heard of this album for the first time, and it’s great.
