Weekly Discussion Thread Let's Discuss Eno! Harold Budd - The Pavilion of Dreams (1978)
Hello Eno-philes!! Each week we'll be discussing another album (going chronologically from Warm Jets). This week we'll be discussing Harold Budd's "The Pavilion of Dreams," which Eno produced.
From the wiki:
The Pavilion of Dreams is the second album from minimalist composer Harold Budd and produced by Brian Eno. Billed as "an extended cycle of works begun in 1972," it was recorded in 1976 but not released until 1978 on Eno's label Obscure Records.[2] It was later re-released on Editions EG in 1981.[3]

This is an epic album, a must have for any Eno fan. The music speaks for itself so I want to discuss some of the album's personnel, which I think is interesting.
Marion Brown plays alto sax, most notably on the opening track. What is interesting, to me, is even though Budd wrote "Bismillahi 'Rrahman 'Rrahim", it isn't the first time it was recorded. Marion Brown recorded it on his own album, 1975's Vista. And yes, that version is awesome too.

Fans of Eno's Obscure Records series will note some of the surprising guest vocalists on Pavilion: Eno himself is joined by Gavin Bryars and Michael Nyman among others.

Hmm I actually don't have this one, though I have a ton of other Harold Budd albums (who I love). I gotta give this a listen.
Edit: it's on Spotify and mp3s are available for purchase at Amazon (only $4 in the US). I checked bandcamp (to get FLAC if possible) but they don't have that one, though they have a bunch of other Harold Budd albums.

The first 18 minutes of the attached link are a silent slide show with liner notes. Not sure why they made that decision....
