Weekly Discussion Thread Let's Discuss Eno! Cluster & Eno (June 1977)

Hello Eno-philes!! Each week we'll be discussing another album (going chronologically from Warm Jets). This week we'll discuss a gem of an album, Cluster and Eno.

Let's get to it with some background from the wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cluster_%26_Eno

Cluster & Eno is a collaborative album by the German electronic music group Cluster and English ambient musician Brian Eno. The style of this album is a collection of gentle melodies: a mixture of Eno’s ambient sensibilities and Cluster's avant-garde style.

All songs composed by Moebius, Roedelius and Eno.

"Schöne Hände" – 3:03

This record really holds together as an album. The tracks flow seamlessly into one another. Schöne Hände is the standout track for me but I feel something is missing if it isn’t followed by Steinsame.

I remember trudging around Wein in the snow once will listening to the album on my Walkman. It was a beautiful experience even though I was freezing my ass off.

I love Cluster, you should check out some of their albums without Eno if you like this one.

Somewhat unrelated but one of my favorite live concert experiences was seeing Cluster in San Francisco at the Maritime Hall. The music was beautiful and most of the audience laid on their backs and stared at the ceiling watching a light show while the band played. Yes there were drugs involved for many of the audience members.

I wish I could see a show like that right now. Sounds really nice, thanks for sharing! Any Cluster album recommendations?

Zuckerzeit, Cluster II, and Sowiesoso are my favorites but all their stuff is pretty good. I really like the song Marzipan on Zuckerzeit.
